Pearl Harbor Anniversary Movie Review

In memory of the 78th anniversary of the December 7th Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, I decided to watch Michael Bay's 2001 "Pearl Harbor" film. I've always heard it has a great love story in it. I was hoping I'd learn more about the historical background of Pearl Harbor by watching this movie. Unfortunately, this is not the best movie for learning history fun facts because a lot of it is inaccurate! In this video, I will tell you the blunt truth about my "Pearl Harbor" experience. I probably should've just watched a documentary. All in all, war sucks!

I enjoyed in "Pearl Harbor" how all of the characters were so nice looking and in such great physical shape --- and nobody smoked cigarettes! Lord knows nobody smoked, in 1941. Plus, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor because they needed oil to heat orphanages and retirement homes.... as far as we can tell from the movie.

Doesn’t it suck how despite its impressive battle scene the love story and the non action packed scenes were lifeless

Doris Millar (the black cook) was a real person. One of the few things the movie got right. The way they depicted him was mostly accurate.

I liked Midway a lot. The cgi in Pearl Harbor scene was not good but the rest of the film I really enjoyed

I think they figure more women would watch Pearl Harbor if they added the romance soap opera but that was Hollywood’s mentality back then. Just watched tonight in 12 years since I watched it last. It’s 20 years since it’s release. I cringe with the romance ridiculous serial acting but damn I love the other half of the film. It’s still good movie. Funny I was married for 7 years and never watched with my ex-wife.

Worse war movie ever. You said there were no real characters outside from Dolittle and FDR. Cuban Gooding Jr. Played Petty Officer Doris Miller. PO Miller manned an Anti-Air Craft gun and was wounded in action. He later went on to receive the Navy Cross our Nations second highest award.

Pearl Harbor was a horrible movie. Watch Tora! Tora Tora!, especially if you want a more historically-based movie
