What I love about Elvis, is his unflinching honesty when he performs.He'll go for a note or a phrase that may not even come off perfect, but it's the spirit behind that, that makes it so admirable.He said as much himself about his work on Painted from Memory.A true iconoclast and stayer.

Her's was the best cover I heard of this tune, in fact the only worthy cover...but this will ALWAYS be Elvis' song.

Cap'n'Kirk'ss guitar work is awesome, but around 8:20 is fucking incredible.

Hmmm!
It was interesting, good, and definitely worth listening to (thanks for posting).... but, for whatever reasons, it didn't 'click' to 110%
I guess if you were there, then it would have been ace, however, if you check out on youtube Elvis Costello & The Imposters - I Want You (Tim Festival) you will see Elvis visiting 'the black abyss of nothingness'.... there again.... the Tim Fest performance may never be bettered, so perhaps it's an unfair comparison. :)
