Vocal Function Exercises (Voice Therapy)

preview_player
Показать описание
Vocal Function Exercises (VFE) are therapeutic tasks used to strengthen and increase coordination of the muscles of voice production. VFE was originally developed by Dr. Joseph Stemple. The treatment protocol for VFE is broken into four main exercises. In combination, these tasks can effectively “strengthen and balance the laryngeal musculature, increase or improve vocal fold adduction, and coordinate the subsystems of voice production.”

When performing all exercises, make sure to use proper posture and to use diaphragmatic breathing. All exercises should be performed twice, 2 times per day.

To complement vocal function exercises, vocal straw exercises can also be performed:

- Intro (0:09)
- Exercise #1: Hypernasal "E" (0:57)
- Exercise #2: Vocal Cord Stretch (3:09)
- Exercise #3: Vocal Cord Contraction (4:44)
- Exercise #4: Power Adduction (5:47)

I worked with Dr Stemple 25 years ago and got my voice in shape for a musical. Lost my voice for years after stress and illness. Using the singing straw and these exercises is bringing my over 70 voice back. Amazing.

I just underwent a Glottoplasty and can not afford Vocal Therapy. This has really helped me. Thank you!

Dr. Stemple was my voice therapist 30 years ago. I am now a voice therapist myself. Just some friendly feedback: Vocal function exercises are supposed to be done quietly with hyper forward focus at the lips (similar to whistle lips, quietly blowing the sound through the lips - but with a clear tone, not a breathy tone).

I just tried one set and omg, lessening in serious hoarseness and gained an extra bit of upper range back, I've been stuck in lower range whispering and extreme hoarseness for weeks, really really impressive. Will be working these from now on

Thank you for posting this.. ;-) I just had a total thyroidectomy. I love to sing but now I have no pitch. Its only been 5 weeks and I thought I would try to do "Do it yourself" vocal exercises. I just did this and I do feel this working on the vocal cords. Your explanations are perfect.. I will commit myself to this and will update in a couple weeks. So much appreciated even if I never get the pitch I had before, if its even a little better I would love it!

Excellent video!! With that high E 3:01, is all the sound coming from the mouth or is any air coming thru the nose to make it nasaly? Hope that makes sense!

This is great. How often should you do each of the exercises you shared? Each time, do you do each exercise just once or 3 times or 5?
