In September 2018, I set out with a friend on a 6 day, 40 mile loop through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness via the Moose Lake (EP25) entry point, not yet satisfied with my taste of the wilderness for the year. More than anything, I wanted to reach a lake I had read much about and dearly wanted to see with my own eyes: Cherry Lake. We ventured down the long stretch of Knife Lake toward Cherry, seeking crisp weather, solitude, and star-filled skies. This is a video series documenting that journey!

In this episode, my friend and I begin our adventure on a bright, beautiful, sunny day. We passed many campsites on our way down Knife, all taken by other parties. We ended up in the South Arm of Knife (SAK) on a nice island campsite a little late in the evening and set about quickly assembling camp and cooking dinner. It was a long day, and we may have botched the steaks, but we were beyond excited for the next day to finally see Cherry. I slept very well that night.

Let me know any thoughts, comments, or questions! I really appreciate any feedback you have. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for the final part in the series!

I look around on the BWCA and Paddle Planner maps to identify the Island campsite that you stayed on the first night but couldn't identify which one by existing pics on the island sites. Which one did you stay at? My camping buddy and I are also very technically savvy. :)
