Why is church attendance / going to church important?

Why is church attendance / going to church important? Why is it important to attend church with other believers?

I am so blessed that I go to such a wonderful Church every Sunday! I always hear from non Church goers that they don't like to get dressed up or they don't own any nice clothes to wear if they decide to start going to Church! Clothes can be bought reasonably if they want to get something nice to wear plus many Churches are more relaxed than others on what to wear. I also hear from others that don't go to Church that they don't like to sing or claim that they cant sing good. I used to be shy about singing in public but after awhile I started singing in Church as it a very important part of a Church service! I love my Church and look forward to worshipping every Sunday morning!

I appreciate the connection and family that God has provided believers with in one another. Sometimes I feel so much shame, regret and sadness when I think about the concept of family because I did not grow up having the best experiences/memories with family as many of my family members do not treat me well. I am not proud of my family history for many reasons. I appreciate so much the family that has been provided through faith in Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, I am still in the process of finding a church where I can truly experience the gift of fellowship with other believers. Hopefully, I will find one soon.

Absolutely agree and totally biblical. The churches need to be heaving with Christians and as we encourage one another and to stand together so we can go out and share the good news with everyone. I have seen so many trying to go it on their own and really die spiritually and become ineffective. It's not 'organised religion' as many want to call it. It's a loving family working and worshipping together. IT IS VITAL. Every Sunday the church should be the most exciting place to be and it is if we really are born again of the Spirit and love the Lord Jesus Christ with all our hearts.

Key word: other believers. We are to BE the church and congregate w OTHER believers in order to praise, worship & fellowship.

Todays church system craves being like the world & have a mega church mentality that it welcomes unbelievers to become members.

You need to use Bible verses(King James). You start off by saying,
We ought to attend church, because we ought to attend church.

It seems most Christians talk about what the Bible says without quoting chapter and verse. Many people from different churches contradict each other. Quoting the Bible is the only way to convince people. Listening to the Christians I like, or the ones at my church is not the correct way to learn. Most Christians have very little knowledge of God, because of this bad habit(by the teacher and by the student.)

I wish you would take this down. "Church attendance" is not biblically commanded. Biblically, it's a contradiction in terms. We are the church, the building is not the church. Gathering is biblically commanded. Gathering can occur anywhere between any Christians. The church as it is now is like a show, you go to watch a performance and then you go home. If you're trying to be better you join a small group and they replicate exactly what they see on Sundays in a smaller group. Show me where scripture commands I go to watch a performance and then join a small group that just does more talking. My gifts are not utilized and these people do not help me. I do help them but it is not returned. This is not doing life together, this is a book club.

I am a devoted Christian and I disagree with this video. No scripture speaks of churches as we know them today. I read His word alone to know what the Lord expects from me. Most churches are involved in many unbiblical behavior. Coercing the giving of money and the purchase of the pastor's books. I have experienced that attendance of most churches are actually most damaging to one's walk because of the hypocritical activity that some members partake in. My first church had a wonderful speaker who was considered essential to the survival of this church. Well, as time went by he(pastor) fired all the elders and became the voice of the church. When it was found out that he had been practicing wife swapping and indecent picture on the internet he was forced to resign. Of course he sought to maintain his control. It was later found out that he was stealing donations. A Mercedes that was given to the church he transported to his home in Hawaii. We later found out the his salary was about $250, 000 per year not including all the books that he wrote and hawked.

The new pastor was much better and it felt much safer to attend until some of the junior pastor's wives were getting breast enhancement and the pastor's buying Harley Davidson's. I love the Lord with my whole heart and soul but I feel much better reading the Bible alone and have read completely through it 6 times in 2 years and nearly done with number 7. My prayer life is much better and I interact with as many Christian I come across in y daily life.

After many years of prayer, my older brother came to the Lord after a horrendous head on car accident that nearly took his life at 73. He is a new man and my prayers came from my heart, my soul and from my home. I get a little frustrated when "Christians" say that church attendance is commanded in the Bible. It is not just like the practice of tithing also changed since the arrival of Jesus. Something to think about. May you all be blessed by the King of the universe and accept His mercy and grace.

Remember, it was Jesus that said at the well that the temple not Jerusalem was the only place to talk to God. We can all speak to Him from anywhere as long as it is in spirit and in truth.

The perfect church on Earth does not exist and you cannot make the perfect church. If you can prove me wrong and find this church DO NOT JOIN IT!!! If you do you will spoil it.
