Lava Lamp Collection: Various Rarities

Показать описание
3rd edition of my lava lamp collection series. Featuring various miscellaneous lamps from LavaLite/Lava-Simplex and Mathmos.
LavaLite (Lava-Simplex)
LavaLite was founded in 1965, first known as Lava-Simplex-Scribe Internationale (often simply known as Lava-Simplex). They were based and their factory was in Chicago, IL where they made hundreds of thousands of lamps over the years. In the late 1980's the LavaLite brand name was sold to Haggerty Enterprises, Inc and then in around 2003 Haggerty shipped production to China. In 2005 they were sold to Lifespan Brands LLC and then in 2018 they were again sold to Schylling Co. The lamps shown here are originals from the 1960-1970 era.
Models featured:
~1968 Consort 2200, red/orange
~1975 Mediterranean 2943, green/clear
Mathmos:
Mathmos was founded in 1963 by Edward Craven Walker, who also invented the lava lamp itself. The Astro Lamp as it was called then was invented by Craven-Walker but the rights to produce and sell the lamp on the American market for the duration of the patent weren't sold to Lava-Simplex-Scribe until 1965. Craven-Walker originally founded the company under the name Crestworth, but in 1989 Craven-Walker stepped down from ownership and they were renamed Mathmos in an attempt to relaunch the lava lamp into a new generation. Today, Mathmos still makes their high-quality lamps in Britain where they were originally invented with the same products and same formula as the originals, a true staple of good quality production. The lamps shown here were imported, Mathmos does not sell lamps directly in the USA currently but has shown plans of doing so in the future
Models featured:
~1990 Jet, blue-violet/clear
2016 Astro, orange/yellow
