Fun fact: Chuuya used to come drunk to Dazai’s house in the middle of the night and shout insults at him. (he had a low tolerance for alcohol)
According to Dazai’s wife, Dazai’s reaction was to hide under the sheets and cry.

"Now even if I die, no one will be so grieved as to do himself bodily harm."

-Osamu Dazai, 'The Setting Sun'.

I’ve read both No Longer Human and The Setting Sun & they’re both really emotional and well written, def recommend! No Longer Human was extremely dark though - it basically read like an autobiography/a su*c*de note (bc of the parallels to Dazai’s own life and what happened after), so as u can imagine it’s traumatic and painful and definitely not for everyone.

Chuuya and Dazai didn't get along at all. Dazai actually once invited Chuuya and another author/poet to write a literary magazine with him. At one point during the invitation Chuuya said: "He (Dazai) looks like a blue mackerel floating in the sky" which is hilarious lol.

The slug and mackerel nicknames got me to reread “I was screaming your name through the radio”.

I'm Japanese so I know the some episode about them. Chuya and Dazai actually knew each other. Since Dazar is two years younger than Chuya Nakahara, he respected Nakahara as a senpai.
They had mutual acquaintances, so the four of them went out for drinks on the first day they met. Nakahara had a bad drinking habit and was troublesome when drunk. Nakahara started complaining to Dazai. Dazai, who respected Nakahara, at first he avoided the fight by saying things like "yes" or "I see."
Nakahara said this "You looks like a mackerel floating in the sky. What flower do you like?"
Dazai said, "Peach blossoms, " in a voice that sounded like he was about to cry. I don't know which one grabbed it first, but it seems like all four of them were fighting each other afterwards. Since then, Dazai has stopped drinking with Nakahara. After that they became estranged.
Sorry if my English is difficult to understand.

I read and analyzed the work of dazai Osamu and realized that the main character yozo is nothing like dazai from anime / manga, except that he hides his depressive state behind a clown mask.Yozo is completely immersed in self-pity, while Dazai personally said that pity will not lead to anything good. (sorry, I don't know English very well)

Irl Dazai actually attempted suicide many times but failed. He once attempted double suicide with his first spouse( Hatsuya I believe her name is) however he was saved by a boat while his spouse died.

Fun Facts: irl Yosano was actually gay and got married to her wife. Kyoka irl is a guy. Chuuya and Dazai hated each other irl. Edogawa Ranpo was actually a pen name for Taro Hirai inspired by Edgar Allen Poe, an author Hirai liked. Akutagawa actually used to quarrel with Tanizaki from time to time since they were both novelists, Akutagawa believed that structure of the story was more important than the plot but Tanizaki believed otherwise. Atsushi and Akutagawa irl didn't know each other at all. Their rivalry was actually based off of a Japanese myth ( I believe so) about the tiger and the dragon. Their rivalry was a good example of ying and yang. A film called Rashouman was adapted from one of Akutagawa's novel . Beast beneath the moonlight was a story Atsushi wrote about a depressed boy who had a bad life turning into a man eating tiger. No longer human was Dazai's last book and during this time he met a beautician called Tomie who broke up with her lover and as soon as dazai met her he left his second spouse and kids to live with her. Dazai eventually died committing double suicide with Tomie. No longer human became his last book. Akutagawa wrote the famous hell screen which later developed into a play.

Correct me if I wrong. The maid and the woman in the photo actually not a same person.

In real life, the maid name is Shimeo Tanabe - a married woman who committed double suicide with dazai. She work as a maid. (She died but Dazai-san survived.)

And the another woman is Yamazaki Tomie. The last girl who in relationships with Dazai and the one who died with Dazai.

Bungo Stray Dogs is referring to a famous writer who really existed. The name of the different ability is also used as a representative of the writer. There are buildings that are based on Lupin, the Port Mafia headquarters, Yokohama, and the Armed Detective Agency. I'm using a translator, I'm sorry if there's anything strange.
