The S2000 is at a big disadvantage due to its normally aspirated engine and the need to build HP through high revs. The upside however is its superior handling and longevity giving it the ability to be driven at 10/10th's all day long. The engines are simply bulletproof unless you get a complete idiot behind the wheel that over reves it during quick downshifts. No real race is won in one lap, and this is where the S2000 really comes to life. Once past the competition so they can no-longer slow you down, you can keep it going full tilt through the turns where the other cars lose ground and eventually lap by lap you build up such a lead that no matter how fast the competition is on the straits you have a nice lead and can keep it all day long. Where the S2000 gets hurt is on course with few curves and really long straits. I owned a 2003 and a 2008 CR. The CR was one of the best handling cars ever designed for the track and after beating it to death all day long; you simply drove it home, washed it, changed the oil and waited anxiously for your next play date. Hi! Sorry for saying that, but this comparison is pointless.. I myself am an onwer of a "track-day spec" S2000 so I would had a good reason to be happy with this video, with an S2k humiliating the new TypeR and the RS, but that's not the case.. Clearly the drivers of the two hatchbacks don't push their cars (maybe they're learning the circuit (Dijon! what a track!) or they do not feel like pushing their cars. Nonetheless, S2k is a GREAT car and could have been a nice battle to watch there, but these guys did not push/drove their cars ;)
S2000 driver is often off the throttle, downshifting, just because the other drivers are too slow :/

the s2k is just an amazing machine… always undetstimated because of it's "lack" of torque… but the horsepower figure along with the perfect chassis and right amount of slide, make it a winner ;)
