What do the 1”, 2” etc mean? Is that the thickness of the flange? Also, what does 150, 300 etc represent? Are they arbitrary?

i still have a doubt sir, if the maximum pressure rating for a particular class flange, say A105 @ 100F is 285 Psi, then it means it can handle 1.5 x 285 Psi= 427.5 Psi which is equivalent to 29.4 Bar. So if my unforeseen pressure of a piping system will be like 25 Bar i can still go with ASME 150# flange.
can you please also where in which code i can find the relevance of flange MAWP= 1.5 x MWP
