The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology released time-lapse footage capturing the eruptions inside the Taal volcano’s main crater, Saturday, January 12.

READ MORE: Clouds of ash blew far north of the Philippines' Taal volcano, reaching Manila, the country's bustling capital, and forcing the shutdown of its main airport after lava gushed out of the mountain on Monday.

Thousands of villagers were fleeing to safety, but officials say the number could swell to hundreds of thousands. Poor visibility and a lack of transportation were hampering people's efforts to leave.

There have been no reports of casualties or major damage from the eruption, but experts warned that it could worsen. Taal, one of the world's smallest volcanoes, is among two dozen active volcanoes in the Philippines, which lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a seismically active region that is prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Good thing that toaster was there at the right moment to capture it.

The good thing is that Taal is isolated by water. But government response and preparedness is very slow and very very bad.
In the 1990's Pinatubo once the Phil Vocs detected sulfur smell in the air they immediately initiated a response. A lot of agencies were already working by the time it erupted. But they just couldn't cope. Pinatubo was so big and connected by land and affected too many houses and population. At least they did something. Today the government appears to be caught by surprise even when there were plenty of signs.

This took place during daytime, there were no tourists presents on the crater rim and on the hexagonal observation deck, maybe filming it as it happened on the spot?

There is a new video of 3 locals climbing to the mouth of the volcano. They filmed the crater

That volcano is a big tourist attraction, I wonder if somebody was at the (hexonal) shaped observation deck, or even anywhere on the rim of the volcano while it started giving up signs of activity. Nobody was actually there when this happened and has (HD) footage of this?

Also notice, the last frame before the camera gets covered, the ground as completely collapsed in front of the camera where the lake edge was. I feel like at this point the lake is draining into the volcano, causing the first explosion

Why isn't there an international fund to give all equipment and supplies necessary to research and video every active volcano and fault

The whole ground started to erupt, then the camera probably got destroyed

Ripping on a cam.. OK go buy your own and leave it there to get destroyed. They know it's not going to be recovered. The first world complaints about resolution. Wow
