A claymore with a tripwire works well.

I ran from police a long time ago. (Out too late). They had 3 dogs and I jumped inside a pine like Bush and rubbed needles and dirt on all exposed areas. Thank you boss man for your info

My main suggestion would be that there's actually not many dogs these days that are trained in tracking. Chances are if someone wants to track you they'd be bringing in a specialist dog from elsewhere. Therefore rack up as much distance as possible in the first few hours. Also if there is more than one person split up and have set rendezvous points

Trainers often use tennis balls as a reward. I would scatter a few old used ones around. Just a thought.

I used to work at a prison, and our tracking-dogs could find anyone - thru it's not the dogs that you beat when you it's the handler! If you can fool the he/she will not believe the dogs in all scenarios, and will follow "decoy' trails even though the dogs want to go elsewhere - in most instances. Dogs are great, but it's the handler that you must defeat!

For a little while in my youth, due to my, uuh, (let's call it) "vocation", , it was my job to literally lose people that were trying to track and find me. Not trying to brag or anything, but obviously I did okay at it, as I have never even been close to being caught up with. Anyway, , I said all that to say this... He's absolutely right about "not being able to fool the dog" (at least 99.9% of the time). So what you DO have to concentrate on, is acting and traveling in a manner that will make the dog behave in a way that will confuse his HANDLER!

Remember, the handler CAN'T know what's inside the dog's thoughts and mind. He can only judge the situation by his BEHAVIOR! 😉👍

Now let’s do one on evading those Black Mirror robot dogs. Those things are real. Idk if they’re as fast as the Black Mirror dogs but they are very real

Hazmat with activated coal filtering outgoing air is probably the best way to neutralize tracking dogs. If you don't shed anything to smell, they have nothing to follow.

Stay out of high grass, stick to very short grass. Hard surfaces like concrete or asphalt is best. Hard surface tracking is very hard on dogs. Take the largest paces that you can. Intermittently jump off your own track.

The human handler is the weak link if you set a fast trap set it up for the handler to step into like a dangling fish hook over the trail. Dogs rarely lose the sent but you can convince the weak minded handler far easier.

I have never actually been hunted by a dog team, but did do some training. The pepper on the ground thing maybe distracts them for a few seconds. Not worth the time it takes to put it down.

As for going over your own tracks, there are a few tactics for this. One tactic is to pick a spot, then run in larger circles. The larger the better. Always pass back though the same spot. Another tactic is to double back, then branch off in a new direction off your previous trail. This does have a problem though. Very well trained dogs can ignore the weaker scents and pass the fake directions.

Last tip. Humans have been hunting with dogs for a long time. Pay attention to how those animals mange to get away. Foxs and deer are the best examples that I know of.

Dogs don't follow your exact trail. They follow the trail as they find it, which may have drifted ten or more feet down wind. With that in mind, peppering the trail is pointless. The upside is, you don't have to perfectly backtrack a trail, so long as you cross your own trail, you'll create some confusion.
