What to do with all your left over green tomatoes?
I have made green tomato salsa, green tomato strawberry jam, green tomato quick breads, now how about some green tomato curry! I hope you try it to add some wonderful quick dinner prep to your pantry.

The pinging jars at the end brought me right back to the kitchen this time of year when I was a kid. My mother preserved everything we didn't eat fresh from a big garden. I can still see the rows of green beans, red tomatoes and amber applesauce... lovely!

OMG, I had 10 lbs of green tomatoes and made the curry. I gleaned 8 pints of curry and it's absolutely delicious, making this a staple going forward. Thank you for sharing,

Was it asafoetida? Asa-foe-tida. I use that in place of garlic. As I'm allergic to garlic. Some people don't like the taste of it. Fenugreek. Fen-u-greek. I have used it. It's different. But in the right dish it's good. I took off all my tomatoes a week or so ago. And I have them in various stages of ripening. Have been making batches of ketchup from all my remaining tomatoes as I get 25 pounds of ripe ones. As that is how many it takes to make a batch of ketchup. Got the recipe from Sarah at living traditions homestead. It's really good! Not like all the other ketchup recipes that taste like BBQ sauce. Have enough ripening tomatoes to do 2 more batches. Trying for about 80 pints. That should get us through a year of ketchup. Yes, we love ketchup on our homestead. Still have 5 tomato plants left in my greenhouse that are still doing really well. And will probably be good thru Nov. And my peppers and okra are still doing good in the greenhouse too.

I probably have abooouuut.... 30 lbs of green tomatoes, and I really don't want to have to deal with the fruit flies in the house anymore so...I am definitely doing this one! We love curry. Plus you had me sold with the words "water bath"!!! 😁 Thank you Rachel!

Fenugreek (Fen-you-greek) is one of my favourite herbs, it's so flavourful and gives that 'curry' taste to any dish. I've never grown it as it's so cheap to buy in the UK but I might try next year. I'd never think to curry green tomatoes but it sounds delicious. I'm about to pull all my remaining toms now the weather is turning so I'm going to have loads of green ones. I'm not a fan of green salsa etc (I don't actually like raw tomatoes, I know, it's weird, love them cooked) so this seems like a really good way to use them up and disguise the taste a bit. Shame to waste them!

That looks and sounds amazing! Totally trying this with my green tomatoes that I have. I lost a few tomato plants in a storm and I didn't want to lose the tomatoes. Thanks for sharing!

That sounds fabulous & yes I do have some green tomatoes to pick tomorrow. Today is my Birthday (2nd Oct.) & having quite a few guests this afternoon for large barbeque afternoon- 70yrs Old Rachel I can't believe it but I still PARTY HARD. Cheers Denise- Australia

I just came in from the garden bummed about all my green tomatoes that will NOT be getting vine ripened and the blight has set in too so this is inspirational! you knew we were needing this! thanks so much it's on the list now :)

Never tried Curry. This sounds good.

I just canned (first time ever) 25 pints of Chow Chow with my "end of garden" things. It is soooo good!!! Got the recipe from Whippoorwill Holler, Ms. Lori Brown.
Used up my little green tomatoes, 2 small cabbages, bell peppers, onions (really anything you have still hanging around)... yummy💕💕💕💕

I'm so glad you tried it.
I use the recipe from the 100 Dollars a Month blog. I love opening a jar and adding leftover chicken and a can of coconut milk.

I know this is an older video but I finally made this, canned it and on the self it has been for a few weeks.
Well, I made this for dinner tonight with some cubed chicken. Rachel, thank you so very much. This was just fantastic and will be in my regular canning rotation.

One of the best curry cookbooks out there is called 660 Curries (it's not actually that many curry recipes, it includes recipes for naan, breads and other things). I'm going to have to try this idea with green tomatoes! What a creative use for them!!

thanks for turning me onto this recipe I wasn't sure what to make with all my green tomatoes ! Definitely wanted to try something different. Took your suggestions with making small batch before canning! It didn't even make it to left overs! Definitely be canning the rest thos weekend! Thanks michiganer!!! BLESSINGS to you and your family!
