Buying a Teardrop Trailer? Watch This First!

Buying a new (or new to you) teardrop camper can be very exciting. Maybe you're drawn to the sense of newfound freedom, increased comfort, the ability to stop and sleep with minimal set-up.

However if you buy the wrong travel trailer, it can also lead to disappointment and a lot of unexpected costs. Even if you're buying a brand new trailer, there can still be problems with it.

We had that same trailer, and had the problem of dust while traveling on gravel roads. We had a pass through and the dust was everywhere! Make sure you have a great seal or you’ll spend every trip cleaning!

Crazy thought, but as a short term 'hack' could you slice open a pool noodle and slide it on the galley door to keep at least some of the dirt out? That or foam pipe insulation, depending on how thick the gap is.

I haven't watched the video yet so don't jump all over me if the following was mentioned. Unless you really intend to be a solo camper avoid 4' wide models. That goes for homebuilts as well. Measure your home bed width, especially if you sleep with a partner. If the trailer is less than that expect crowding unless the trailer is at least 5' wide.
Even if you build on a 4' wide frame you can expand the width over the fenders.
