Remember when Tucker Carlson got his ass handed to him by a Dutch historian and didn’t air it? So do I

If she so pro-mother/baby bond I wonder if she supports paid-maternity/paternity leave by law?

Socialized = Affordable, not mandatory. The irony here is that if we had an economic system that served the majority of citizens, they could afford day care without government assistance.

My son is just starting daycare and I literally have to drive him nearly 20 miles out of the way because the daycare closest to me costs more than my rent! I really hope this proposal becomes a reality one of these days. It is so important

What the hell do these people think child care is for?

It used to be possible to raise a family on one income until the Reagan years. It's been impossible even since unless you're super rich.

With her logic, she is also against elementary & high school then? Does she homeschool all 5 of her children?

"Not the short term benefit of businesses, but the long term benefit of families..." That is the literal argument we make for every single Progressive policy.

Remember when the green new deal called for "economic security for those unwilling to work" ? Well those unwilling to work would include, full time students, retirees, and STAY AT HOME PARENTS

Two parents need to work in order to have a decent living standard. Universal day care won't happen because these right-wingers will never do anything that will raise their taxes.

This is exactly it. Many moms DO want to spend more time with their kids, especially when they are little. And it IS better for small children to be with parents- they are biologically primed to be with their families.

But many families NEED two incomes and so they should have access to low-cost, high-quality child care. And some folks just WANT to work and they should have good child care too.

Having paid maternity leave (at LEAST a year), universal day care, and UBI would ALSO lower the abortion rate (that the Conservatives claim they care about so much).

PS: I'm a mother of five, I'm a doula/midwifery assistant/lactation counselor who specializes in infant development AND I'm in Grad School for perinatal/women's mental health.

@11:32 The answer to Mike's question is.. old people. Old people do not know what it is like to have kids nowadays. Fox News' audience is full of old people.

I think his point is that daycare shouldn't be substituted for paying a wage that can support a family so that both parents don't have to work. I could see corporations lobbying for daycare, paid for by the taxes of the middle class instead of themselves, as a band-aid approach to the problem that doesn't hurt the bottom line as opposed to raising the minimum wage.

By (F)Tucker's logic you should also abolish schools..

Here in California, to put your child in the CHEAPEST daycare (in a shady business) is $1400. Corporate Daycare runs $1700 a month per child.

you are 100% right tucker is a manipulator.this is a crazy conversation he is having.what does he think women should stay at home and not work.I'm sure lots of women would like to stay home and take care of their children and not work but who could afford it.what is Tucker's solution the women should stay home and watch their children and get paid for it.or should they go to work and help support the family.he doesn't give a solution to this situation.it's probably because he doesn't understand the situation he is very rich person.he is a horrible human being twisting and manipulating The Narrative any chance he gets.he is trying to keep the poor and the middle class confused and against each other.you know what they say divide and conquer.Republicans oldest Play From The Playbook.and these days also Democrats play.

Are they trying to make it sound like the childcare is enforced?
