The Inland Taipan Snake - The Deadliest & Most Venomous Snake in the World

The Inland Taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus), also known as the Small Scaled Snake and Fierce Snake, is native to Australia and is the most venomous land snake on Earth. It is a species of taipan belonging to the Elapidae family. Although highly venomous, it is very shy and reclusive, and prefers to escape from trouble, biting only if threatened.

It is the most poisonous, but this does not automatically translate to the most dangerous. Danger to people is a function of many factors, the toxicity of a snake's venom being only one. Others are how aggressive or shy the snake is, how long its fangs are (can they penetrate leather boots or chaps?), how much poison is released in a bite, how close to highly populated areas the snake lives in, and the availability and effectiveness of anti-venom.

No, it is the most venomous. It is not aggressive, very shy, and does not live in areas with high concentrations of people. Venom Potency by itself does not determine how "dangerous" an animal is. Compare this animal to the slightly less venomous but much more dangerous Eastern Brown Snake.

It is not the deadliest, it is the most venomous land snake. There is a difference. When ranking animals by how dangerous they are you have to factor in range, contact with humans, aggression, hunting habits, time of day they are active, ect.

@HONORGUARD308 yea but what im saying is if a wiki page is changed with blatently false imformation, it is very soonly targeted by the community and changed to what is correct. it is common knowledge that most sea snakes are much more venomous than the most venemous land snakes.

yeah more like 45 minutes for a fully grown man.
and it is potentially the most deadly if it does strike, furthermore, if it strikes it can actually strike several times and it will appear like a single strike due to the speed of it's attack. don't even bother to disagree, i'm a snake handler ;-)

A beaked sea snake is more venomous then a belchers sea snake and an inland taipan is more venomous then a beaked sea snake thus making it more venomous then a belchers sea snake also taipans are not agressive at all, they would not tag you unless they had to they rather just go away from what seems like harm.

well many snakes are more deadly then the Inland Taipan when all is considered like Black Mambas like residental areas opposed to reclusiveness but the snakes venom is far more toxic
