I love smallHD monitors, but the sunhood is a major design flaw. Installation and removal is extremely counterintuitive, resulting in breaking these things no matter how delicate and thoughtful you try to be while doing so. I had the 502 first and broke mine the first day just trying to install it. Then after they sent me a replacement and I ordered another spare for backup (considering if you don't have one your shooting day is done). Both are cracked/taped and close to being fully broken from normal production use. They are made of a mysterious plastic that's impervious to super glue, so once they break all the way - its over. So fast forward to this week, I just got a new 702 Brite with similar design hood, yet beefier construction. Well guess what? Broke it after 4 days on a shoot. Luckily it was the last day of the shoot or I woulda been screwed. So now I have to buy two spares at $70 each and baby this thing in a fast moving production environment. In my opinion the problem is in the weird way they fold onto the corners, that no matter how many times you do it (forget what the guy in the video says) it just never gets any easier. Any DP that has one knows what I'm talking about. I honestly could not believe when I got the new one that they were still being designed this way after they clearly know its a huge problem. Can it be solved with some different plastic composite? I don't know, but c'mon smallHD - please fix this!

I have found it very difficult to install and remove the Sunhood. After using it for about a month and a half, there is already a crack in one of the corners. I wish I could just leave it on, but I like to remove it when I work indoors so I have more flexibility with viewing angles, as I do a lot of hand-held filming.

Infuriatingly, I scratched my screen with this sunhood moments after watching this video and trying to install it myself. I can't live without my 501, but a scratched screen from an original product that costs $85+ tax here in Canada really burns. Needless to say, I haven't attempted to install the hood again, so I therefore am out around $100 bucks.

Give us a better solution and reduce the ridiculous price please! The device itself is very expensive for just a monitor. So please don't sell a overpriced crap accessories to us.

Another one here that has broken a corner on the first use, really bad design and quality for the cost that we paid.

Can we get a better sun hood please? For the price, we definitely need to be treated a little better than this sun hood!

The sunhood is not durable at all. Wished they made a stronger one. All four corners of mine have now developed cracks.

Such a rubbish, disappointing design on these 500 and 700 series sun hoods, no value for money. Wasted $170 on two of these products couple of years ago and still managed to break both after a couple of uses.

Plus one for me, complete and utter rubbish and waste of money. There is no way I'll get the damn thing on without damaging the screen. Can't even return it because even the bag opener was broken for packaging so had to cut it open. They shouldn't be allowed to sell these useless items, especially at this cost.
