Here's my representation on the story:
This game is when the Mom and Dad are first getting divorced and, since it looks like the same house, the Dad appears to be taking off on a plane to leave the mother and child. Therefore, the mother became an alcoholic and abusive mom, sending the actual game's story into play.

It makes sense to me... Anyone else?

You know... Mark has a point. Sniffing babies because of that soap they make smells AWESOME. My sister has had 7 kids so I smell it often.
