Hi Flower Friends! It's Nicole from Flower Hill Farm- today I am showing you my method for germinating Bells of Ireland. Bells are a lovely filler stem for spring and summer bouquets. I am growing up Upstate New York Zone 4b. My last frost date is mid to late May.

I enter flowers in our local County Fair every year. I entered my Bells of Ireland one year and used a Guinness can for vase. Judge loved it and I made it to best of class!

I love this method! I also do it for sweet peas, delphiniums and strawflower!

6 years I've been trying to get these suckers to germinate. I viewed this last year at the end of the growing season. Too late to plant but I'm going to try to give this method a try. I've NEVER successfully gotten even one seed to germinate. Fingers crossed!

You cannot imagine how much this was needed. I just took mine out of the fridge today and put them under lights on my cool floor thinking they needed cool! So the heat mat is the key!!! Headed back down to get them on heat immediately! Thank you 😩😩😩😩😩

Thank you! My last (and first) attempt with bells successfully sprouted exactly one seed...which I killed about a week later. 🤦🏼‍♀️trying your method today!

I have chilled the seeds for a few weeks then soaked in water for 3 days then planted with okay germination so far. Going to try the Nicole Fast Fact tip next. Thanks

Love the wet paper towel idea. I've only put them in the frig. I will definitely give this a try. Plus those little roots are so cute!

I've done this technique with a lot of my seeds quite successfully. Before I had heat mats I put them on my baseboard heat. The only problem is my cat would grab the baggies and run off with them!

I just germinated BoI in my unheated cold frame with 2 YO seed. Zone 6B I've never done this before. Never have grown it before. I'm stoked!
