I know this is an old video but I trialled this out this morning, doing the drill of feeling the position and hitting a few half shots from there. It really helped! I’ve been struggling to lag the club, coming over the top and rotating correctly. This drill helped fix it all! Hope you’re well.

Great video, Chris! After weeks not being able to practice l, my contact felt ‘off’. I realized I wasnt completing my hip rotation before my upper body kicked in.

Hey Chris, great drill, but you Didn’t mention in the video How Far Behind the ball the alignment rod is placed? Looks to be maybe a club length, maybe a smidge more? Can you please give an approximate distance behind the ball to place the alignment rod so we can execute this drill properly? Thanks 🙏 man!

When I set the right task of throwing the club outward to the right slightly AND opening the body it tends to make the swallowing of the club natural. Open the hips gradually (not spinning) and throw the butt of the club out to the right with no tension - it's amazing what the brain knows how to do when you just let it. It's actually impossible to come over the top or get steep if you just simply set that task and let the subconscious work out the rest.
If I think about swallowing or dropping arms or hitting the ball I am toast. In fact, if I think about any position I am toast.

With a shorter single plane swing should the lead hip start rotation immediately to 35/40 degrees at impact of club head to the ball? Thank you.

Are you saying your arms start to swing down before your hips begin to turn. I have tried to do just the opposite, hips turn first then arms catch-up..

What if I'm shallow and square the face early and my hips are still barely open?
