Petition to Seal an Arrest Record in California

Under California Penal Code 851.91, you can petition to get an arrest sealed so that it can no longer be seen by the public. It is deleted from your rap sheet.

I sealed my record and it was updated with the CA DOJ and th FBI but after giving it a couple months to let the systems update, I ran personal review requests from both agencies and the arrest record is still physically there. They didn't delete the record but instead just added the entry "Arrest Relief Granted." I had the help of my local Public Defender and the attorney stated that the entry showing arrest relief is only visible to me because I can always see everything on my own record but others won't see it even if they did a fingerprint check. Is this true?

How much would it cost to have a lawyer do the rest of the steps for me? I had requested a petition to seal and destroy an arrest but it was denied. (I was detained for a felony through association but never prosecuted and they took my fingerprints) So I'm on this step right now.

What If I won my post conviction appeal and charges were reversed also I was released from jail.

I got in trouble when I was 18 I’m 32 years old was arrested but the case was dismissed and tossed out however it still shows on my record and I am going into the military and I’m getting special clearance for my job but I can’t have that showing up on my record how can I get that taken out !? This is ridiculous

How to find out if it was expunged or sealed?
It never went to court apparently the court was too busy to bother.

Very nice! What if I was arrested for attempted murder but the DA filed it as assault with GBI I'm almost done with work release once I finish the judge said they will dismiss the charge. can I clean up my arrest record? Since technically I was never charged with attempted murder to begin with?

What if I was not arrested but was given a citation for a misdemeanor & the changes ended up being dismissed, would it not appear on rap sheet or ? Thank you!
