Add me on:

Video showing the Reason 6 SSL Mixer with the full channel strips and master bus compressor. The mixer was introduced in Propellerheads Record and then became integrated in Reason when version 6 was released.

This mixer is modeled after the SSL 9000K Mixing Console which is one of the most legendary mixers in music production history.

What do you think of the mixer in Reason 6? =)

Wow. The clearest, most concise explanation of mixer functions I've ever heard. Bravo!

One of the greatest tutorials I've seen by now related to Reason. Very clear explanations, very clear voice. I definitely appreciate your work and I hope you keep this coming.

You can create an empty SSL Mixing channel by right clicking and: create+device+mixer channel. Then you can use tab to get to the back and route anything by using "direct out".

I'm getting a great education with these videos. I just purchased REASON 6 after using REASON 4 for a few years. Now using the SSL mixer seems less intimidating after watching this. More, more, more...I need more! ;-)

Thanks Mike for your through and simple explanation of the Mixer! Using 6 is another learning curve for me after upgrading from 5! Everything up till now has been without vocals! Now for a new microphone! Hello from Memphis! :D

My personal opinion is that it both sounds and "feels" incredible. Having the whole channel strips right there for every track is so good for the work flow. That mixer is the most value of the upgrade to Reason 6.5 in my opinion, but you still get more nice stuff as well.

Well not in the mixer itself, but the all channels are represented in the rack. So if you're in the rack view you can tab to get to the back of it. There you for example have direct outs, sidechain compression etc. for each mixer channel.

Nice stuff Mike. You always give us something new or in this case for me, explain something I've heard before in a way that I can understand it better. :) Thanks again. You would be surprised how many people don't know any of this stuff!

@peakeleven Thanks. This video was also very helpful. I agree that pads would be easier to control it than the keyboard. I've got that dilemma.

Thanks, I really like this mixer in Reason 6. And I have used several other DAWs, but I prefer this mixer.
