This is my unboxing of the seaboard Block M That was order in November 2023 and was finally sent in June 2024. The long await gave us $250 in extra software vouchers that allowed me to also get several MPE sound packs, Equator2 and Cypher2 for the extra wait.

The Roli Seaboard Block M is beyond a normal Midi Keyboard and allows for 5 dimensions of touch that creates a very expensive sound from a keyboard surface. It uses pressure, velocity, slide, glide and lift to transform software sounds into realistic feel of the type of sound it is. Such as a violin, flute or saxophone sounds can actually sound like a real instrument on a piano like keyboard. The result can give very powerful and expressive performances playing a piano like keyboard.

The block M is a smaller version of the Seaboard, which can be linked together with other blocks to add more keys. Roli also makes the Seaboard Rise which is used more often on stage. Where the block M is a more compact unit. Both work the same however. Roli also sells the Lumi Keys a 4D touch keyboard as well. It is only missing the glide sound. All of the Roli Midi hardware give unique MPE sound (Polyphonic Expression) possibilities unlike most other Midi controllers.

I been playing music since age 7 when I first learned how to play piano. Later in my teenage years I learned guitar and went on in my early adult life and play guitar in a local blue grass band The Skylarks. Later on I did some experimental digital music under the name Twisted Artist. Since 2020 been playing around with Midi sound design using piano like keyboard midi controllers like Novation and now this Roli seaboard Block M.
