Umami Burger Presents: The Alton Burger by Alton Brown

Introducing Umami Burgers latest Artist Series collaboration with Alton Brown. Available from March 14th through April 24th. The Alton Burger has a special beef patty made with Umami Burger’s signature beef blend mixed with bacon lardons. The Alton Burger is topped with cheddar cheese, miso-maple bacon, smashed cheesy tots, a fried egg, fried sage, and a house-made coffee ketchup. $1 from each Alton Burger sold is donated to the Make-A Wish foundation.

I'd totally love this burger. My favorite burger in town is a burger at a chain pub which is comprised of a toasted brioche bun, sirloin burger patty, a special mustard, bacon, an over-easy egg, cheddar cheese, and a hash brown, and this seems to be in the same vein.

Umami isn't necessarily limited to just glutamate/glutamic acid. To make something taste of umami you need both glutamic acid + either Inosinic acid or guanylic acid.

Whenever I add coffee to my catsup, it just gets watery.
But then I add more catsup to thicken but loss the coffee flavor so I add another cup of coffee and it gets watery again.
I like fresh brewed coffee with catsup instead of cream or sugar.

Went to see if we had an Umami burger by us, and we do, but apparently they don't have this. Would have said road trip if they did. Hee hee Alton Brown never lies to us.

In the future, when i decide to open up a restaurant, I'm going to have an item or 2 on the menu with the word Umami in it.
