The Microsoft Surface Studio 2 has been out for awhile and offers one of the best touch-screen experiences for drawing and digital creation.

But even with updated hardware, does it still have what it takes to impress us the second time round?

No ports on the side, because that 0 gravity hinge will chop off your cables, or otherwise u can't bring the screen down. They'll have to put the ports on the front then. Or at the top of the base.

My Surface Studio Pro 2 came with 32 GB of physical memory. i7-7820HQ CPU, NVIDIA GTX 1070 dedicated 8.2 GB memory, TB SSHD. This play games very well as well as VR. The fan will kick into high gear when playing games and for that, I have an external fan to help cool things down a bit. The ports in the back are no big deal. It is what it is. IMO, this is the absolute best machine I've even owned and I have had plenty of custom gaming machines built that were big and bulky. I love my Surface Studio Pro 2.

I've had my Surface Studio 2 for over a year, great for digital art. I mainly use Autodesk Sketchbook Pro! I personally love the touch screen and the pencil the best.

Even though I have no clue about graphic design, I bought this for its beauty and power. Btw the cable port in the back is perfect to me because it hides the cluster you'd be seeing if they placed it on the side or front.

Fair review... I like the way you reviewed this product. I am not a designer but I can see lot of features I love to be on my personal PC are in this one.

I would say on the ports, I get having it on the side of the base, however if you had something plugged in and then wanted to adjust the screen, the hinge going down would not be able to. So I would say that's something to be mindful of in suggestions. Thanks for the review tho, definitely appreciate it.

The USB ports are not on the side for the same reason they are not on the front. Just as you show in the video, USB cables would stop the lever arms from lowering.

Good video. The reason they didn't put the connections on the side is because when you put the monitor in the down position, the hinge arms cover up those sides. So you would have to unplug all of your connections before you dropped the monitor down. Not fun.

What do you think if this, compared to the 2019 iMac?

My partner is an illustrator who has zero interest in gaming, will these specs still be sufficient in 2021 with no word yet on a Surface Studio 3? She's had the money set aside for a while as I told her to wait for a third iteration but we're three years past the release of the SS2 with no news as of yet.

hinges clearly go down the sides... but you don't understand why they didn't put inputs there with the zero-hinge design? would have been better some on the front and back but it makes no sense at all for them to be on the sides with the way the hinge is designed just my two cents.

Choosing between this and imac. If compare to Imac27, which one would you choose? Normally I use it to edit 4K video and do some graphic work! Thank you!

I have had the 1st gen Surface Studio for about just over 2 & a half years it's a great machine fits all my needs I am a home user but about 3 months back the touch screen stopped working I have tried everything from disabling the driver & reenabling them uninstall & reinstall drivers even a clean W10 pro install I've tried going into the UEFI which replaces the old bios and still no touch screen which makes it look like it's going to be a hardware issue considering the price of the machine I am not very happy for that money it should not already being showing faults and looking at many forums this is quite a common problem since the machine is out of guarantee I had a look inside the base but when I opened and saw I thought better of doing the repair myself even though I have managed many repairs on laptops and PC's over the years. I have a very good local PC/Laptop/Console repair shop so it looks like it will be going there if I can't figure out the problem as no way am I paying MS repair prices. Another bugbear is the base unit gets very hot so I have put a desk fan at the back of it to keep it cooler. I think they could have made the base a little bigger an incorporated a better cooling system. I also have the smaller Surface Pro X which comes in handy when I'm on the move as not practical to be lugging the Surface Studio around but when I am at home in my office corner I prefer using the Studio but sadly not having the touch does limit the machine hopefully I'll get it sorted soon once the shops reopen again. Just like to add now that despite the £4000+ price I paid its not upgradable to W11 which has really me of at the mighty MS wtf and many others in the surface range the same problem. And the drives that come in with it well for the price I think they could have done a hell of a lot better I have put a new SDD drive in and a better m.2 card in its a fiddly job but doable well I managed it anyway.

The specs says it has usb-c. Is that pen suffering lag or inaccurate touch-points i was seeing?
