SFJAZZ Collective and Chick Corea perform "Spain" during SFJAZZ Center's "Historic Opening Night Concert" on January 23, 2013. The SFJAZZ Collective, which roster includes alto saxophonist Miguel Zenón, tenor saxophonist David Sánchez, vibraphonist Stefon Harris, trumpeter Avishai Cohen, trombonist Andre Hayward, pianist Edward Simon, bassist Matt Penman and drummer Jeff Ballard, will be recording and releasing a live CD in 2013 featuring the music of Chick Corea.

***SFJAZZ is a non-profit organization that presents year round jazz concerts, festivals and educational programs at the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco, CA.

Corea simulating himself on some cheesy digital keyboard (in the late 60s he had relentlessly worked on the Rhodes to create the incredible sound and intonation he achieved then). The rest descends into a boring, uninspired « latin » session, all the atmosphere and unique features of the composition are wrecked. The listless and crude way in which the theme is played is actually shocking.
