The Use of Gap Moe in Zenless Zone Zero and How Caesar King Initially (kinda) Fell Short

I've been really obsessed with the new Hoyoverse game Zenless Zone Zero, from its gameplay to its characters and even down to the vibes, I love everything about this game! Especially now with 1.2 Tour de Inferno coming up soon with the Sons of Calydon, we now have a look at Caesar King. And I don't think, in comparison to the other S ranks like Jane Doe or even Burnice, that she stacks up

If you look at billy's trust 4 mission, we get to see this serious side that really helps contrast his typical goofy personality. I love when a goofy character gets to go super serious for a second, completely shifting how we look at them, then immediately going back to how they were like nothing ever happened.

caesar is a hero shounen manga protagonist who secretly likes shoujo manga. if you're talking presentation, there is actually. her design is this fierce bike gang leader, but her face is on the cute side with blush present.

I think Ceasar works very well for me because she is an absolute badass in a fight sure... But that is kinda the only thing she is ACTUALLY good at. She is the leader because she is the strongest fighter but she NEEDS the other Sons of Calydon (Especially Lucy's mind for strategy and business) to be effective. Ironically she is worse than Koleda. Koleda is very competent leader who sometimes needs the others to prop her up a little because she still is quite young. Ceasar is older yes but she is also as dumb as a brick. And she's just a very cute tomboy XD

The Caesar's type of characters were always ones of the most endearing to me. I love her

i think Caesar has a great dichotomy. At s glance, she's the fearless leader of the SoC, best fighter in the gang and possibly the whole outer ring. but you get closer and you realize she's just a normal girl. she's a bit ditzy, she loves movies, and getting tea with her friends, she's self conscious and a worrier. the complete opposite of how she seems on the surface. while all those surface traits are true, shes so much more than that

Her Dichotomy is pretty much caused by Lucy's influence.
If you look at SoC first trailer or
Caesar Kings first trailer,
She was captivated by how ladylike and modest she is while playing the Piano.
Which contributed to her sparking a new personality never before felt to her ever.
All the time even if she is a girl, she had to be a tough guy to survive in the desert
So knowing that there is a world where she doesn't have to be the tough guy,
really fascinated her and soon
It became to be her private interest..

I think this wouldn't be an issue with Yanagi because we've already seen her dynamics with her Co-workers. She's the straight-laced serious type of person that has a silly, clumsy side to her that she can't openly display to anyone because god forbids she's the only normal person in Section 6. Soukaku is an airhead. Harumasa is a slacker. Miyabi is.. her. And I'm confident that she's gonna play into that dynamic a lot. Even the fact that she's second-in-command behind Miyabi is already indicative of how much she has to clean up after every step her captain does because Miyabi is such an abstract person that anything concrete with her takes double the effort. Hence, the gap moe of being the serious person of the bunch with a clumsy side to her due to how much she has to present her seriousness for the sake of her crew

What i love about billy is that there are moments where you can see his coolness

Billy in some moments is like Sans (Undertale), being goofy most of the time and being a funny haha chill dude that's just awesome in general, but when it gets serious they get serious (one of the two probably more badass than the other but still)

Let’s not forget that billy has had a hardcore past and reputation but in the words of lighter he is able to put that to rest behind him so he can live freely in the present.

Caesar have gap moe in similar way to Billy.
she looks like a badass biker but she can be gentle or just straight up silly when you interact with her.
first time meeting you, she held a gag funeral with the crew when you fall unconscious from exhaustion.

You make it sound like a bad thing. Caesar is perfect the way she is. If you start thinking to much the way you are here, you end up homogenizing every character to be the same all because “this is how a character has to be”. Nah let’s keep characters unique from one another. Part of the allure of what you’re describing in those types of characters is that they aren’t all like that. It makes them stand out more.

Gap moe is very common, especially in games and anime, you always see big and physically strong characters sometimes being very kind and caring to the point that it's very overdone, or a soft-spoken, calm character being a psychopath, usually a Yandere, like Satou from Happy Sugar Life or Makoto from Komi-san Can't Communicate

The way he described Billy kid and with his design just reminds me of vash from TriGun depicted as a badass but in reality is just a goofball with a ton of skill
