Thank you sir. This is the best idea so far. Last night some "idiot" stole my plate and was involved in a stolen car/multiple car crashes and ran away. Police came knocking at my door.

This happened to me in Arizona. Cost me $25 for a new plate at the Dmv. Using flat bolt heads is a good idea.

You have probably already done this but you should report the tag stolen just so law enforcement can enter it into the national database. It could prevent you from receiving an unwelcome visit from the constabulary in your area in the event the pilgrim who stole the tag continues to steal oxygen from the planet. I know in some jurisdictions the local DMV does this automatically when you come in for another tag. and you inform them of the theft. I see your apportioned at 26000. If it costs more than 500.00 the theft can be classified as a felony. Hopefully they gave you a new number and registration. Great idea also on the carriage bolts. And yes tag theft is a growing crime especially around the big sewers/aka big cities, even not so big sewers anymore.

I'm just starting drive away for a company and one of the first things they tell us is that we need to take off our plates at night and keep them with us or on the dash. I guess they're a hot commodity right now. Strange times.
