India's MASSIVE $11 Billion Challenge to China's Super Dam!

China has officially approved the world’s largest dam on the Brahmaputra River (Yarlung Zangbo), just across the Indian border in Arunachal Pradesh. This project, set to eclipse the Three Gorges Dam in scale, has sparked serious concerns about India’s water security, ecological balance, and long-term diplomatic ties with China. In this video, we assess how this new dam could give Beijing unprecedented control over the river’s flow, potentially exacerbating droughts, flash floods, and other environmental hazards downstream in India and Bangladesh.

We dive deep into why the Brahmaputra (Yarlung Zangbo) matters so much to the millions of people who rely on it for farming, fishing, and daily sustenance, and how these massive hydropower plans might weaponize water in the already tense India-China relationship. India has started its own dam-building efforts and improved water management to counter China’s expansion, leveraging the tributaries that ensure nearly half the Brahmaputra’s water originates on Indian soil. However, as the geopolitical landscape in South Asia shifts, the stakes for both nations continue to climb.

Join us to explore the environmental, humanitarian, and strategic implications of China’s mega-dam. Will India’s strategies be enough to mitigate this challenge? Or does China’s grand project signal a new era of water-driven confrontation? Watch now to find out how this water war could reshape Asia’s future.

Save Assam from flooding
We Sri Lankan pray for all in Assam

India will have to build afew dams on the Brahmaputra in Indian territory to collect any flood water from china and this will also ensure that Inia has enough storage capacity to avoid draught.

It's odd, that despite the border disputes between the two countries, they are collaborating on a new currency exchange.

I'm from Sri Lanka. Greatly appreciate your geographical explanation.

China csn never block brahmaputra 75% of water is from the Himalayas in Arunachal Pradesh and the mansoon rains in Assam and Bangladesh. The Glacier in Tibet hardly contribute 25%. They cant block India's water or make India water scarce but can flood the downstream!
To counter it India shoul build a dam on brahmaputra in Arunachal Pradesh.

Releasing dam water without informing those downstream should be considered an act of war.

Countries that are upstream of any river always dominate the water flow. Same is the story with Niles in Africa.

You are right . We, Indians know about this . Mutual adjustment sometimes frickle and hardles to survive the results. Local people faces problems. It's so very true .

Bro, bhramaputra water cumilated in china is only 30% the rest 60% from arunachal . Dont put wrong information, nothing will happen to india .

Even in the video, it is clearly stated that the flood was caused by rainfall, which has nothing to do with the dams. If all the countries along the river can work nicely together, the dams can actually regulate the water flow from upstream and therefore minimize natural disasters. China is using dams to generate hydropower rather than taking the water resources away from the downstream countries. Unlike the US, the Colorado River water is diverted for agriculture. By the time it reaches Mexico, there is no water left.

India is against the China's construction of dam but itself planning to construct one such mega dam on the Brahmaputra river. What a funny and radiculous idea😂😂

The important thing is to face geopolitical reality by working together. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤

India and Bangladesh share 54 rivers, but India has built dams almost all of them. Major dams and barrages like Farakka and Tipaimukh affect Bangladesh's water flow, raising concerns about agriculture and ecosystems.
But now China doing the same.

Some feedback:
At 10:34 you said that 50% of the river's flow comes from China. However, your source instead talks about drainage area. That is important: most of China's area is very dry, while India's is very wet (the Himalayan rain shadow causes rain to fall on the Indian and not Chinese side).

The actual number is 7-30% depending on how you count tributaries; the 30% from the FAO/UN includes every single stream coming from China. China can't dam all of them; there are too many. The 7% from Indian officials includes only the river's main stem and excludes major tributaries coming from China.

this is funny AF.... China building dams is bad for the environment but the response is to build dams in India side

Once the dams on Chinese side are full, they will have to release the water for power generation and the excess water to reduce the load on dam walls. The Indian set of dams and their reserviors will act as Hydro Capacitors to regulate the flow. So by the time water reaches Bangla Desh, it will have lost its devastating energy.

India has to build several dams and hydro stations to control the flow of water downstream...

😂😂😂 China's dam together with India's dam will permanently stop the devastating floods in Bangladesh and parts of India.😅
