Yes, this works, its the same as banishing the brake pads after install. But I would do this for cars non-daily driven. A clutch can last a very very long time and should be broken in per manufacture if your car is daily driver. What you are doing is brute force banishing and it's never perfect. But if its a race/toy car that clutches realistically only last a few years then yes this is an acceptable prosses to get you back on the track.. I personally allow for more cooldown time including engine off periods in between slips for the clutch to contract from heat. Additionally I use the closest 1:1 ratio gear. So for most cars I would use 4th gear. Stop flaming the guy he's not stupid..

“Clutch is slipping, we don’t really know why” Because glaze. Or in other words, because you didn’t properly break it in the first time

I would just do things the tried and proven way. This way of heat cycling the clutch could cause hot spots on the fly wheel and premature slippage down the line. This might be something to do if your car is a "track" car only. But it seems like you drive this car on the streets. So you are constantly slipping the clutch daily driving versus a track where you aren't. So it's best to just take your time. Do it right. Drive the 400miles.

Bollocks to that, all this will do is glaze it, you will have hot spots burned into the flywheel and pressure plate followed by clutch chatter.

Not going to lie that shit ain't going to work clutch is just like brake pad it's how you drive is how the clutch wears out

Thanks for tip. But I'm just gonna do the normal 3-500 drive break in, on my stage 3 just put in. Gives me an excuse to drive the shit out of my hatch.

For people thinking of doing this: While this can work, go with the recommended break in period from the manufacturer as they know better than you do about the product they produce.

If you have a daily you’re going to be driving 500 miles in a short period of time anyway so just go with what the manufacturer recommends for the break in.

It’s simple as that, just follow the directions and don’t take short cuts, because even if short cuts work they always have risks.

That is the most Craziest thing i ever heard or seen lmao. You can not do that to a clutch at all. You are supposed to break in the clutch by normal driving conditions.

This is mainly true for 6 puck/4 puck clutches and it worked great held good on my car at 500hp/400tq. Doing it one a 8 pad will not work the same those need to wear in more.

For the the people saying this is stupid it's not, I see people doing this at the track. If your clutch dies at the track what are you gonna do? Drive it around the track 300 laps? Go to a drift event and you'll see this.

Hold that clutch in for a minute and break in that clutch bearing 👍

I think we found out why the other clutch was slipping

No one should do this. You just glazed your clutch and lost prolly around 100 lb/ft of hold.

My two year old will tell you not to ride the clutch. Shoot that’s when I learned like most other people.

Drag cars can do light passes with 15 min cool for break ins I believe. My darn drift car has new clutch and I gotta do 500 street which is sooo much

Reading on the internet a 6 puck doesnt need break in, however my 6puck with new reinforced pressureplate and resurfaced flywheel slipped, after doing this told by a friend it did engage (still bites very late but does not slip)

Dude, you're straight frying em, its a brand new pad and youre spinning that shlt a ton slipping it like that and you wanna try not to do it at all, you want to SEAT IT, and basic usage wears it to a point of "break in" so it only hardens to a point i.e. like caramel vs a candy cane, ik you all know not to build an engine and go straight to the strips so I don't understand the reasoning, can somebody record doing it and pulling the clutch to show it doesn't half glaze the son of a bltch? Otherwise ive heard a ton of reasons my whole life not to do this yo
