Disney and Pixar's #InsideOut2 is coming to theaters June 2024 with brand new emotions!

The little voices inside Riley’s head know her inside and out—but next summer, everything changes when Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” introduces a new Emotion: Anxiety. According to director Kelsey Mann, the new character promises to stir things up within headquarters. “Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat,” said Mann. “That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.” A trailer, poster and film stills are now available for what promises to be the feel-good (or feel-everything) film of Summer 2024.

Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone. Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, alongside Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust. Directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen, “Inside Out 2” releases only in theaters Summer 2024.

Both Riley’s anxiety attack and the scene in Oppenheimer where he is giving a speech and the room goes quiet are very powerful. Riley’s sense of self doubt during the hockey game and Oppy’s look of horror at the destruction his creation caused were very well done by their respective directors, sound artists and cinematographers.

My favorite shot of the movie is when Riley closed her eyes and the sunlight touches her as she calms down before she plays hockey with Joy taking back full control

Anxiety is going really fast like flash

If anyone doesn’t know the context of what’s going on, this was the writers way of demonstrating an anxiety attack. Rapid breathing, sweating, twitching. It’s a way to show kids what happens when you feel too anxious and want to do something that you cannot control. Whether you make a sports team or not, whether you do good on something or not, and you get the point. Anxiety’s speed is showing how fast the mind stays anxious and running, causing you to ultimately lose control of yourself. And please don’t start a war with me. I just wanted to explain the context of what was going on.

From the outside, I saw three outcomes. Two were very bad, but I wasn't sure how far Pixar would push it.

From the inside, it was a runaway, self-sustaining reaction. And the young, inexperienced scientists who started it didn't know how to stop it.

Overall, it was good. 😎 Stayed until the reel finished and the house lights came up all the way.

Such a great movie, might even go see it again! It was so relatable and is a great way to show viewers, primarily kids, they cannot stress things they have no control over. At 26, this is something I still struggle with so the anxiety attack scene was a bit too relatable! I wasn’t sure how the second one was going to be but wow, speechless in the best way 🥺 I hope they make a 3rd with some more emotions as Riley gets older
