I hope democrats don't make the same mistake as the majority of republicans - to discredit anyone who is not on their side. This man knows what he's talking about, and as a democrat and a liberal, I agree with him.

John Kasich should be the GOP nominee for 2020

The Republicans should have listened to the people that ObamaCare should be repaired. But the had to repeal to make the tax cuts for the rich.

Despite his disgusting eating habits, John Kasich was the Republican I supported the most in the 2016 election (and I'm from Texas). During the campaign I couldn't stand Donald Trump (and still don't), I didn't trust Ted Cruz (and again I'm from Texas), Marco Rubio was ok but I never felt 100% confident he would win, and I felt more sorry for Jeb than supported him. That said, John Kasich was a more moderate Republican, well experienced in politics, from a crucial swing state, not known for controversial statements/laws, and seemed overall likable as a candidate. If Trump hadn't run for President, I honestly think it would have come down to Cruz and Kasich (which it kind of did anyway), and I think Kasich would have been a good leader for the working/middle class Americans who had felt they were not doing so well under Barrack Obama. Plus, regardless of how you feel about President Trump, Kasich probably would have done better at unifying the Republican Party to get things done and actually work with the Democrats on key issues, which are things Trump can't seem to do. And while he has said he won't run in 2020, I do hope that he does. Oh, and it's nice listening to him when he's not overshadowed by Trump and Cruz yelling at each other.

Mr Kasich. Thank you for being a voice of reason within what is now a dysfunctional political party that can't govern for the people. Now if you could only learn to lie, assault women and become illiterate YOU TOO CAN BE PRESIDENT!!...# people over party.

How the GOP replacement plan "Improves" on Obamacare:

1) Cuts close to a billion from Medicaid.
2) Creates "Block Grant" funds- this allows them to make big "general cuts" to funding, and pass on the problem of specific cuts to the states.
3) Defunds Planned Parenthood of all govt assistance. PP is already restricted from using govt aid for abortions, but the GOP isn't satisfied with just that - they wish to go against current LAWS and ban abortion outright by making it more difficult for women to access such services. PP is also the primary place for women to go for health checks- so they think so little about women to jeopardize their health.
4) Weakens preexisting condition coverage allowing States to put those with per-exisiting conditions into poorly funded high risk pools.
5) Let's states opt out of "essential benefits", the minimum amount of services every health plan has to offer. This will let insurance companies sell "cheap" plans they know won't cover you when you actually need it.
6) Reduces aid to offset cost of insurance premiums- making it more expensive to afford.
7) Allows insurance companies to raise premiums for those over 50- meaning it will be harder to afford at a time you need it the most.
8) Does NOTHING to control spiraling drug/medical costs.
9) Will result in tens of millions losing insurance coverage.

There's a reason the GOP plan has a 17% approval rating and they wanted to pass it BEFORE the CBO scored it.

The CBO score will show it for the junk bill that it is- all the groups are against this plan.

Oh, and the original plan put in an "exclusion" that let Congress keep all the Obamacare benefits and left the changes just for "us".

If this doesn't tell people the GOP doesn't care about the average person, I don't know what will.

I like the idea of giving it to the states, but the problem is that it USED to be at the state level and it failed (which is why we voted in Obama to create the ACA).

If the Republican Party had a brokered convention and picked Kasich over Trump, I would have probably voted Kasich instead.

Kasich should have been republican nominee. would have still beat Hillary, but the country would be much less divided.

Kasich has so much sense compared to Trump.  It's unfortunate during the nominations he was passed over.  Now the country is in the direction of going down the drain.
