Chan-wook Park is the director that got me into appreciating movies as art, rather than passively consumed entertainment. One of the things that I liked most about Lady Vengeance was that Park didn't directly depict the most horrific he violence he implied (towards either the children or the actual vengeance itself), choosing instead to depict the reactions of the participants, victims and survivors. It made the impact much stronger, IMHO.

I found it really interesting how the color kind of fades with the tonal shift of the movie. He makes so many interesting directorial decisions. This is the one of the 3 in the trilogy that begs you to watch it again. Great review!

About the style and transitions. I always described this movie to my wife as a kind of modern fairytale, or maybe, a hard revenge flick told as if it were a fairytale. It's a wonderful but haunting film. Have you reviewed Sympathy for Mr Vengeance also? That's an odd one too.

The Koreans are punching way above their weight in movies and television drama. Why is that?

I know this is just a Youtube video, but I do not think you are giving post-modernism a fair shake. You are arguing a straw-man post-modernism.
