*The pilot applied too much right corrective for the left wind gust. Then full left command had no room to correct it. (It is much like driving on ice) On a ship, the turn is from the rear (At the rudder) and not the front(like a car). The front is the pivot point. That is why long ships have NO business in the Canal. Lack of a short enough turn radius. Notice also how high the waterline is from the water? (Remember this ship is loaded) They pumped out most of the ballast to fit into the shallow canal. Further making this ship top heavy and unstable. It had two strikes against it before entering the canal. It is just a matter of time before it happens again. Now, any "group" knows how to blockade the canal in a time of conflict as a tool of war.

If a few deep dtauft vessels were ancored and secured togetherdownstream, possibly the water level would be raised a few inches, putting less presure in the sand from the hull of the ship.
