MiniPRO TL866A/CS Firmware v6.8x to v6.7x

Have you updated the software version of your MiniPRO programmer to version 6.8x and it began to work incorrectly (doesn’t see the memory chip, the message about the fake device or errors)? You need to downgrade the firmware version to a stable 6.71. In this video I will show how to do it.

Software version 6.70 and 6.71:

What tools are needed to perform this repair:
1. Screwdriver PH02 Phillips
2. Soldering iron
3. Computer
and 200-500 ohm resistor

I have a genuine TL866A that I bought a while ago but not used for a long time. I downloaded the latest version of the software which prompted me to flash the programmer to the latest firmware. I then started to get the warnings as shown in the video, despite being a genuine product. It seems it's their excuse to try and force me into buying the latest TL866ll version, which I didn't want to do anyway as I believe the TL966ll can't provide the VPP 21volts required for some eproms.
Luckily I was able to downgrade to v6.71 using this video. It worked very well and was easy to do. As long as your happy soldering onto the ends of a couple of small SMD components.

Thanks for this, a very simple fix. I thought I'd borked my TL866A when I installed V6.85 software. Took it back to the V6.60 that I was using previously. Will probably upgrade to V6.71 at some stage. At least I can get on with what I wanted to do.

Thanks for this, quite ironic they *finally* fixed 22v10 GALs in the version that bricks TL866A - guess I'll have to do some version hopping in the future depending on my needs. Definitely the last programmer I bought from them, even when they're pushing their newer models quite aggressively via various tech youtubers.

Thanks, man! Downgraded successfully. Never use 6.85 version of the software unless you have the new XDecu version of TL866!

I have a problem with writing to M27C1001 memory. With reading i have no problem but after UV erasing i can't flash firmware to this memory. I tried all versions 6.50, 6.70, 6.71 all those versions can't write something to my M27C1001 memory.

good morning I have the same problem with my mini pro, but my motherboard is not the same as the one you show in the video. however the capacitor C7 and the resistor 17 are but in other positions. Can they still be welded there to do this procedure?

I have an original TL866CS running V03.2.86, but while the windows software (v6.17, 6.50, 6.85 ) sees the hardware, it complains that it's too old. I think the manufacturer is forcing previous owners to buy the new TL866II hardware, even though the TL866CS still works fine.

If my hardware cannot be used without reflashing, what firmware/software do you recommend? I saw a open-source project DavidGriffith/minipro/, but requires linux (and custom firmware??)

Can the MiniPro.exe be examined/reversed-engineered to allow it to run the software? I just need to program am29lv160dt , AMD29F004BT and SST39SF040, devices.

I have TL866A and MiniPro v6.85, and didn't see any problems. Are there any chips particularly troublesome with this version? Or this is only a problem of cloned devices?

i have a question on the 6.71 version can i flash 32 mb bios, i never updated my programmer because of that, but for some reason i dont se mx25u256 name on that list anyones know if on the 6.71 comes that ic to program ..

So, I guess the 6.8 version is made to brick the programmer and makes you buy a new one. I rolled back to 6.71, and it works fine.
