New Sprint format:

Friday - Teams try to learn everything in 1 hour, then proceed to crash all over Baku extending quali for 5 hours due to red flags
Saturday - Sprint race suspended since all teams are repairing the cars, the cost cap is exceeded by half the grid on repairs
Sunday - Everyone has grid penalties due to new components, ordinary procesional race, Max wins by 50 seconds

Next race in 3 months.

Sounds like a Ferrari team strategy going into a weekend. (over complicated)

They should’ve just left it alone three practice sessions, one qualifying in one race

New Sprint format:
FRIDAY: Drivers must run around the track once, do EXACTLY 7 pushups. Then they must get in their car, honk the horn 4 times and then drive backwards around the track twice.
SATURDAY: After eating a dozen doughnuts, 3 bananas and drinking a can of Sprite - Drivers will be challenged to see who can top the times without throwing up.
SUNDAY: Racing resumes to normal

Watching this reminds me of Carlos Sainz's team radio : "stop inventing, stop inventing"

I feel like this is the world we’re living in. THE MOST ACTION POSSIBLE. GO GO GO, MUST KEEP THE GOLDFISH ATTENTION SPANS ENTERTAINED

I think most people can attest to the excitement “building” during slow times… that’s what makes GP’s so exciting… that’s what makes life interesting really..

Now there is zero incentive for the teams at the back of the grid, those who have zero chance to reach the 8th position.
Those teams might just stroll slowly around the track or simply DNF during the sprint, and preserve the car and engine for the actual race.

They had a perfect format: p1, p2, p3, quali and race. There was nothing wrong with it. Practice is exactly what it says. New f1 feel like they have to turn to gimmicks to attract the Americans, who are not into f1 for the gimmicks

I thought the FIA wanted to bring down the costs of competing, this seems an odd way of doing it. Also why not have points all the way down the grid to deter sandbagging? There’s a huge risk involved to the cars, if I was Williams or Haas I wouldn’t want to spank my car for nothing so why would I engage with the sprint? What’s to stop me from having a “technical” issue and having a fresher car for the actual race

Common sense: If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

F1: We are more popular than ever and people love it - time to make unwanted changes!!

Don't destroy Formula 1. Please. It's like an idea out of kindergarten.

F1 again having no clue what the fans want.

We want more European races, better coverage and more jeopardy for the top teams. But instead we get quali while we all work, a sprint that only matters to 3 teams and the lucky 4th and a bunch of poor sods working tirelessly to get cars ready for a sprint noome asked for.

Problem is that this year there's a clear top 4 teams so the top 8 places are all but set in stone
