Anna Fotyga: We must open the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the EU this year!

"We must be with Moldovan society and with the Moldovan authorities who are our neighbors and who are trying, as much as possible, to get closer to the status of a member state of the European Union. We must help them and open negotiations as soon as possible, this year itself. I would like us to implement all the necessary technical and financial measures to help this country, especially to send a civilian mission there," said MEP Anna Fotyga.

We remind that the Republic of Moldova has developed the second Action Plan regarding the fulfillment of the nine conditions set by the EU in order to launch accession negotiations. It was completed and updated after the European Commission presented an Evaluation Report on the implementation of the Community acquis at the beginning of February.

During the first extended meeting, which took place at the beginning of this month, the basic tasks for the next period were outlined, in order to boost the preparation process for our country's accession to the European Union.

Among the priorities are the elaboration of the National Action Plan and the Association Agenda for 2021-2027, the elaboration of our country's contribution to the annual EU enlargement package, the establishment of the calendar of activities and the elements necessary for the efficient development of the European integration process.
