Initial preparations of satellite images in GIS: band combination, mosaic, mask, and removing black borders
How can you use satellite images immediately after downloading from the site? In this video, we are working with Landsat images. When you open any of them in ArcMap, you see them in gray color. So the first step is to make a band combination. Different band combinations are used for studying different features. But the natural color composite for Landsat 8 is band 1,2,3. After doing so, if all of your study areas aren’t covered by only one image, you need to mosaic them. Mosaic to the new datasets is the command to use in this case. Then, you want to limit your image to your study area. Using extract by the mask can help you with that.

Wow thank you, you are really help me a lot. For the next video, i think you should purchase a good microphone so your voice wouldn't be too low. This is the best tutorial I had so far

good tips. but a mistake is on the band combination part 1st imageries have bands 2, 3, 4 and the second ones 4, 3, 2. arcgis seem to work on the order of the bands given by us that is the reason why the two scenes have different shades (displaying different have bands in color gun)

Thank you for lucid explanation.
I am working over a large study area. Can I directly work with MTL.txt file of landsat8? Or shall I need to create composite image for each tile and then mosaic? When I used MTL.txt file and removed margins and saved as '.tif' files which were then used for mosaic to new raster, the obtained raster is not showing band values in Properties > Key Metadata. I am not getting this. Can u explain this?
