Human love cant love an enemy. Only Gods love running through a believer can change a heart of stone to a heart of Gods love

By “don’t put yourself in this parable”, I think MacArthur simply meant do not consider yourself the Samaritan of the parable by donating a little money to a particular cause.

This sermon was a eye opener for me. Helping me realize that I have never had perfect love for God much less my neighbor. And the thing is God demands perfect rightousness and the only rightousness God will except is His own rightousness. To think that I could justify myself by my means of loving God perfectly is a joke. Yes as a believer, I hunger and thirst after righteousness but not of my own. By being poor in spirit the Holy Spirit has opened my eyes to see that I have no rightousness within myself. I know He saved me not by the basis of my deeds, but according to His mercy!! 2 Cor 5:21 He made Him who new no sin to be sin on our behalf so that we may become THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD in Him...wow... by faith in Christ, I have became the rightousness of God, the only rightousness God excepts. Praise the Lord!!!

I think the most misunderstood verse in the Bible is: “Judge not, lest ye be judged” (I learned it years ago in whatever version that was). People come away from that thinking we’re not supposed to make judgements, but if they would just read a couple more verses down, they would find Jesus saying, not to judge people harshly or you will be judged with that same measuring stick. And to get your own sin taken care of before you point out someone else’s. And finally, to make a right judgement. So we are not told not yo judge. I do believe we are not to declare that someone is going to hell, that is God’s place alone. But we are to judge who is sinning and try to call them back to the narrow path.

John MacArthur didn't say, don't put your self into this parable period; he said, don't put yourself in this parable IF you think you are fulfilling this loving your neighbor as yourself, just by doing a good deed, or by giving money to the poor, that is works and not love from your heart... That's what John was saying.

McArthur is saying that simply giving a stranger money is not the point of the parable. And he is also speaking to the Lawyer, explaining what Jesus means when he says, "Do not put yourself in this parable." The lawyer was not like the good Samaritan because the Lawyer did not love his neighbour as himself at all times. He didn't keep God's law perfectly, so he could not justify himself. Jesus was saying that if you never break God's laws, you will live. But everyone has broken God's law, so the only way to eternal life is through Jesus.

The way I’ve come to understand “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself” is this: As God opens your eyes to how deeply He loves you—with His whole heart, soul, and strength—His love begins to move in you, like streams of living water. And from that place, not your strength, you love your neighbor as you yourself are loved, not through striving, but from overflow.

Theres no such thing as "social" justice. Justice is justice. It doesnt need a qualifier or pronoun.

@Wise Disciple I just wanted to say I absolutely love listening to your shows. I am a debator at heart, lol. So listening is always a good time for me. I even debate myself in thought as I go about my day. Hahaha I love how you disect things and your attitude is one I like. I've been listening probably only 6 months now, but I binge listen while washing dishes and doing housework. Just wanted to thank you for your show. It's fun, edgy, intellegent, and honest. I hope to catch some more live ones and be able to join chat. God Bless you brother. Its good to listen to others in the body of Christ! God is good.

I think another way to understand it is to put yourself as the one lying on the road and that Jesus is the good Samaritan.

When he said "don't put yourself in this parable", he wasn't saying that you shouldn't put yourself in any parable, but what you are doing doesn't fit THIS parable. So don't put yourself in it like you are fulfilling it.

There are multiple lessons in the parable of the Good Samaritan.
One of the most important missed lessons in the parable is the wrongful prejudice against the Samaritan.
He wasnt just point out that the Samaritan was following the right path, but also that a hatred for Samaritans was not "loving they neighbor".
I.e. the Samaritan proved to be the neighbor. Even the Samaritan ought be loved.
Context matters.
Specifically, ethnoracism was common at the time. The scribe was attempting to get approval for ethnoracism under the guise of the word "neighbor".
Jesus rebukes him by both pointing out that it may be faulty prejudice to presume even their greatest enemies would not have a decent person amongst them, but also by pointing out hypocrisy in that the scribe would want an enemy to be good to him, though the scribe was seeking to not have to be good to his enemies.
It sounds a bit strange to us these days because racism today is less likely to be city-state oriented, but it would be someone akin to someone in Italy saying "Sure I am supposed to be moral when encountering Italians, but surely that doesn't include the Jews?".
This is the role reversal of what the scribe was asking.
Jesus corrects him from every angle. In fact, you ought to be good in general as best you can reasonably be as well as be humble for there will often be times when you were not as good as you could have been. Goodness isnt isolated to one group or ethnicity. It even includes your enemies.
