❓ 👩‍🏫 💲 J1 Visa Teacher Expenses, Salary, and SAVINGS/ Take Home Pay of US Foreign Teachers

(watch in HD) So, how much will a J1 teacher in the US be able to save from his/her paycheck after all the deductions and paying of bills?

Please note that some of these expenses may be lessened. It is up to you and after being in the US for a while, you will figure things out.

My goal in creating this vlog is not to dictate, judge, or discourage. My goal is to help by giving ideas/insights to all teachers who are aspiring to one day teach in the US but are unsure of what to expect in terms of expenses and savings, etc.

I hope this video helps you in some ways.

During the first month, ( you don’t mention) I assume the rental location does not include furniture. Tables, chairs, bed, dresser, couch, tv, cooking utensils, plates, glasses, and eating utensils. What about going to the grocery store for the first time?. All the items that initially will last for months that will eventually be part of the $300. Example: scrub brush, cleaning products, soaps, shampoos, oil, rice, bottle water, light bulbs, glass cleaner, mop, etc.

Hello teacher!

I hope this message finds you well.

As a dedicated fan and subscriber, I regularly follow your YouTube videos and deeply appreciate your insights. I am reaching out to seek your valuable advice regarding my career.

I passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and worked as a licensed public Secondary English teacher with the Department of Education (DepEd) from 2013 to 2019. Since then, I have been an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Japan.

I am now exploring teaching opportunities in the United States and would greatly appreciate your guidance on the best steps to take. Specifically, would you advise pursuing Special Education (SPED) units to enhance my chances of being hired? I understand that SPED teachers are in demand, and that it might be more challenging for Secondary English teachers to secure long-term positions and an H1B visa compared to SPED teachers.

Your insights would be immensely helpful as I navigate this decision. Thank you very much for your time and advice.

Sincerely,
Nelson

Thank you for breaking down all of the expenses. I'm currently at my six years in DepEd and planning to move out and pursue my J1 Application. Any idea how much would be the salary entry level?

Thanks for sharing this very informative video Ma'am... Do you have an idea if a retired teacher here in the Philippines can also apply for J1 or HB1 visa? Coz my friend is planning to apply an early retirement 3 yrs from now before he will apply to teach to US. Is that possible?
