Love this guy. I feel happy when watching this video. He is the Bob Ross of drains.

I found a square 5 gallon bucket for $9 and it was shaped just like a $70 catch basin. Lid was perfect for this use too.

Had a 4" hole saw on hand so I was happy.

Remember when you drill into plastic with the hole saw you always start in reverse you make your circle and then you put it to forward and that'll keep it from grabbing you'll have a perfect hole every time

Smart Chuck, I always was thinking of a small garbage can. I always get the popcorn ready while watching you 😂

My dad made something similar under a water spicket and it lasted over 40 years

A catch basin like this would probably work really well in my backyard because no one would be walking or driving over it. Chuck, it is also funny that you mentioned turning the bucket upside down and installing it that way because that is what I was thinking as well. Great idea!👍

Thanks very much. As I couldn’t find any ready made catch basins in Australia unless ship it from US. This will be great!

Love watching you work with that Florida dirt (sand) compared to this red clay in South Carolina. :)

Great video . Thanks for making it for us .
If that bucket was filled with clean drainage stone would it work equally as good and never have to worry about the lid coming loses or getting brittle with sun light over time etc ?

Great idea. Question is how often you will go over the can lid. Only few times. Even if it breaks or cracks you can replace with a new one for few bucks.

Nice, I have an idea/question.. If you filled it up with gravel all the way to the lid, would it provide the strength to drive over it, but yet still allow water to pass through it?

I have done this many times the strongest part of the bucket is the bottom you put the bucket in upside down the lid is the weakest point that is why it was caving in when you drove over with the tractor it will fatigue over time. Drill holes in the bottom flip it over with the cover on and do it that way

Thank you for these videos. I'm learning a lot.

instead of drilling all those holes in lid around perimeter, what if you just placed bucket upside down. No water catches on the bottom surface.?? Just a thought. Also stronger for driving over it.

Sure appreciate your videos! If I weren't located in the Midwest, I'd hire you in a heartbeat. It would be great if you had contacts in MO who you know are reputable, but I doubt I'm that lucky. So, would you please consider doing a video on how to select contractors, e.g. what questions to ask and what to look for to avoid getting rooked? Thanks for the consideration and keep these great videos coming, please!
