Tom nails it - the theme is thin, and the game isn't original, but the mechanics are so polished, balanced, and tight that it's still a great game. Good art too. My favorite euro of the last year.

Before watching, when I saw that this review was more than 18 minutes long ( which is a bit above average for Tom's), I told myself that he would either like the game a lot or trash it. In both cases, the video would be interesting to watch. So, I did watch it and was glad the game seemed good. I had this one in my wishlist for a while now so I probably will buy it now that I hear that it's actually good. Thanks for the great review, Tom.

Man, now I don't know if I should get this or Grand Austria Hotel. Opinions?

Using the dice values to determine what you can take reminds me of Castles of Burgundy. I think i'll like this one.

If I own and love Coimbra, is there a reason to also own this?

On first impression I thought this game was going to be a retread of Grand Austria Hotel with some slight twists. Thanks for sharing enough detail so that I can see that it really is quite different. I am much more interested in it now.

Could we get an updated list of Tom Vasel's favorite euro games? I still remember his review of Puerto Rico. W/o that review I don't think I would've ever tried any eurostyle games. Not that it was a particularly exciting review, I could just tell by the way he was talking about the game that he was indeed actually having a lot of fun playing at the time. It wasn't just a sales pitch, he thoroughly enjoyed playing! I would love to hear Tom's current thoughts on euro games today, be the game is 5, 10, 15 years old - it would just be cool to hear how that list has changed over the years.

If you have someone in the play group who is AP, will this really drag out the game?

There's nothing wrong with the box, in fact it looks gorgeous.

seems like a descendant of Lancaster?! Knights of various levels with utilization of squires vs. die-factored pawns with assistants; total military point track vs battle points in overseas wars; faith vs laws, etc... I wonder If I have Lancaster (and expansions) do I even need this game on the shelf next to it?

I think I'll stick with Grand Austria for now. Thanks for the review!

I like Euros but man, this looks so drab.

I hate the faith track (and its even a copy of the emperor track in GAH, so its unoriginal). It reminds me of the feed your worker, which we reeeally dislike.

Tom, love your video and all, but you really should stop to bring cards close to the camera: they are out of focus and really unconfortable to watch.

I understand you want us to see them, but we don't really see them anyway...

The game just looks and feel so drab. I mean the cover alone is an epitome of boring.
Why these euros always have to have the most boring and dull themes? This is coming from CMON, couldn't they come up with a more interesting setting?

This is honestly one of the most boring euro games I’ve played ever. Nothing about it is great.
