This is honestly scarier than the actual movie.

This is not a puppet! This is actor Javier Botet. Javier has Marfan Syndrome which makes him extremely tall, skinny, and flexible. The wires you see are to help Javier move more like the character. Other than his extreme flexibility he moves more or less like any one else and can get around by himself just fine.

it's not animatronic.  they used a male actor with a condition called Marfan's syndrome.  The condition makes his limbs very thin and spindly, and makes his joints abnormally flexible.

It's so cool to see what the human body can do! Props to Javier Botet for using his condition to his advantage and do what most other actors can't.

Not only does this look creepy and horrifying, but it looks amazing and fantastic!
This is Javier himself doing all those contortions and movements. The fact that this is the actor himself makes the film even more natural and such a masterpiece! Not to mention how much of the budget had been saved on not relying on animation!

This isn't just freaky. He manages to evoke the pain of the character in addition to looking weird as fuck. The movement and the limbs contorting is good, but that is better. This guy strikes me as a genuinely good actor.
