this film always shows how versatile Kubrick could be in his films. I really did love 2001, Shining, and Clockwork Orange for being so trippy. But this film is a work of art with its European cultures of traditional and orchestral pieces all weaved into the story of a small man who is corrupted by his own green and pride

"Sarabande" by George Friederick Haendel. The Sarabande was actually a slow, stately dance from the 18th Century. Haendel at the height of his powers. In some ways, it almost sounds like a funeral march.

The only period piece movie that I can think of where each scene is essentially a classical 18th century painting or portrait with it's accompanying musical piece. A superb and unique movie.

WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY MAJESTIC PIECE OF MUSIC, HOW UTTERLY ELEGANT, FLAWLESS, SOOTHING YET ENORMOUSLY EXCITING AT THE SAME TIME. IT CAN EASILY BE THE NATIONAL ANTHEM OF PARADISE.

I saw this movie a week after it was released.
Later, I found a picture of Marisa Berinson on the front cover of TIME magazine.
TIME wrote an article about this movie and had full pictures and written articles.
Mr. Kubrick's methods of creating a film production stuck with me to this very day.
