My guess would be that Drach benefited greatly from learning for O and A level exams in the UK.

I really appreciate that you put this together. I've been in the slow process of putting together a few scripts in adjacent areas (events, more then equipment) and seeing this guide, while not directly related to what I'll be doing, certainly served as a great starting point for me to figuring out how I even want to meaningfully start structuring things, and how long each section would acutally look like on the page: one of my big issues in the past with some past experiments has been making sure everything is "long enough" and all that.

Army sent me on a public-speaking course. TLDR; "Say what you're going to say", "say it", "say what you said" (Intro, body, outro), 5 mins = 1-3-1, 30 mins = 5-20-5, 60 mins = 5-45-10.
For 5 mins you therefore only have 3 minutes to say what you really want to, which means you can't say much! Decide on one main point, two supporting features/examples. Write a script and read it aloud, preferably to someone else. Rehearse and edit like crazy. 30 minutes takes an hour to prepare, 5 minutes takes a day because you must be concise. If given 2 hours you should know your subject well enough that you can just start talking, improvise, pad, and waffle as required. If all else fails, waste time answering audience questions! (DIfferent to a planned Q&A).
