One of the 37 Classic Climbs for cyclists in South Wales which formed the basis of Steve and Richard's charity quest.
The Black Mountain. The name says it all if there is even a hint of bad weather!!
A superb 6Km climb from Brynamman. Get in a good gear, turn the cranks and watch the views pass by slowly. Don’t look for the summit. It will come....eventually!
A true classic climb. Great location, good length, a gradient which is steep enough to need some sustained pedalling but no so steep that it is beyond all but the strongest of riders.
The typical South Wales mountain environment awaits you as you pass over the cattle grid leaving Upper Brynamman and from there it just gets better and better.
The atmospheric scenery is just mesmerising – and takes away thoughts of aching legs – the pay back for the effort of getting here is perfect.
One to do over and over again as each time will be different.
