Probably looks different because the land is extremely scaled down in the game for gameplay's sake. In canon it's supposed to take days to travel from Dawn Winery to Liyue Harbor, but that doesn't make for an easily traversable in-game world. So this is probably a more realistic take on the canon size and scale of Teyvat, making it look unfamiliar.
