Subnautica: Below Zero - 15 Things You NEED to Know Before You Buy

After being in early access for more than two years, Subnautica: Below Zero is set to release on May 14th for Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. Developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment, it provides the same underwater exploration and survival mechanics that made the first game such a hit...with several changes and improvements, of course. Here are 15 things you need to know before picking it up.

So I avoided playing early access so far to discover the new content in the official release. I figured with a title such as "things you need to know before you buy" I would be safe from spoilers, but apparently not. Not thank you.

I see what you were trying to do with this video, but it's really not working, there are quite a few spoilers in here and a lot of features of the game that I don't think is necessary to mention in a video like this, as it seems highly unlikely that they will decide weather or not to purchase the game based on what vehicles there are and whatnot.

Honestly, the seatruck is such a new concept as well that some people might deem what you revealed about them as a potential spoiler...
Some things you barely touched on was how the gameplay felt, how the game was running and if the story was good or not, etc. Nobody wants to hear you talk about features in the game that some people are definitely going to get mad at for getting spoiled in a video titled "Things you NEED to know before you buy" The "before you buy" part is the most essential line in the title here,
if you're going to spoil a ton of stuff, then at least tell them in the title that it contains spoilers....

Some things you could have also talked about was stuff that was NOT in this game that was in the first game, for example that the Cyclops or Seamoth is gone, instead of revealing new exiting content that the players might wanna have revealed by playing the game themselves.

I loved the first one. The second one is fun too, but it doesnt have the same feel for me.

The first one is kind of your own story. The second one is a narrative thats kinda cheesey. It still has lots of the same fun the first one did though.

Hopefully the jukebox functionality works the same on console. The best thing would be having spotify in your ingame base.

As somebody who played the first game 4 times and has been a part of the testing community for BZ from the get go, this new release lacks the terror element the first game had. I also miss the hell out of the Cyclops. The sea truck is useful, but it’s just not the same as the Cyclops IMO. I do like the addition of the voices and the game runs so smooth that it feels like silk on my Alienware 2721D. The first game had massive stutter and still does to this day after patches, but was a phenomenal survival experience altogether. This is going to be a fun romp in the new icy world, but it just doesn’t capture one of the main reasons I was attracted to the first game so much….sheer terror.

Just 3 hours in. Totally dig this game. Only issue I’m is the damned pop-in hasn’t been fixed on PS4. Trick is to go slow and restart the PS4 often. It works for me. Takes about 30 minutes before pop-in returns.

Your cuts are way too quick. The average snippet of this video is 2 seconds long. This is the epitome of attention deficit syndrome - if you don't have it yet, you will get it. Please...calm down and relax :-)

I just hope it runs well on PS4. I loved the original but it was probably one of the buggiest games I’ve played on the console.
