Kaptai Lake - One of The Biggest Man-Made Lake in the World.
It is situated in the Rangamati Sadar, Kaptai, Nannerchar, Langadu, Baghaichhari, Barkal, Juraichhari and Belaichhari Thanas of hilly district Rangamati of Bangladesh. This lake was created to produce electricity by the Hydro-Electric project. To do this Kaptai Dam was established and this lake has created. Now it is the most attractive tourist place in the world. Many travelers or tourists come here from different countries.

This 'H' shaped lake size is around 11,122 square km and the average depth is 100 feet (30 m) and the maximum depth is around 495 feet (151 m). For this lake, approximately 54000 acres (220 square km) farmland is drowned by the blue water.

This blue water lake surrounded by the hills attracts a large number of tourists every year. Beside the natural beauty, the tourist can enjoy boat riding, viewing waterfall named Shuvolong Fall. This lake has some tiny islands, such as Peda Ting-Ting, Tuk-Tuk Echo Village and Chang-Pang. Peda Ting-Ting is a tiny island where there are some resort and cottages to stay and enjoy moonlight night with fantastic lake surroundings.

Tuk-Tuk is a fantastic echo park with varieties of trees and plants and a great place for boating and cruising. Hanging Bridge, a 335 feet long bridge across a portion of the Kaptai Lake, has been an icon of Rangamati district.

You can go there by bus with a 5 to 6 hours of jouney from Dhaka. There are a many hotel and resorts are available at the lake City Rangamati to stay and for food. The price is reasonable.
