imho, the reason buzz is free & does not appear to make players spend anything is probably because he's essentially an ad for the next toy story movie and they were probably paid handsomely by disney to do this offsetting the pressure on devs to come up with something more grindy.

I think it’s partially because the pizza contest rewards feel worse to get compared to the previous contests. Getting 20 angel/demon drops, which are guaranteed to drop something good, feels a lot better than getting 150 pizza slices which can maybe buy you xp doublers and a present. Especially since the rewards for winning are almost the same as last place, it doesn’t feel fun to grind

IN MY OPINION.... buzz lightyear shouldve only been playable on set gamemodes per day like in the spongebob event. I feel like this would solve a lot of the issues people have with him

i liked buzz for the first few days, then he just got annoying. i hated facing him and i didn’t have fun playing as him. got him to 1k trophies, then basically didn’t touch him cause it wasn’t fun. i wanted his mastery title because of FOMO, but i put it off because he was so unenjoyable to me. getting from gold 2 to gold 3 was such an annoying push and i couldn’t wait for it to end so i could never touch him again

Its because 2 reasons
-that fucking pizza delivery (especially when it's 3v1)
-the reincarnation of the devil in the form of an astronaut toy named Buzz Lightyear

Before watching this, imma add my own theory down below

1: Content. The A&D had those abilities, Spongebob had powerups, Godzilla had mutations etc. This means that the temporary event had

1: Additional depth for pretty much every brawler
2: Unlockable content for the whole event

They released Buzz fully maxed out. Deadass, i think if they released buzz as power one, limited to Laser form and you had to unlock his upgrades that might'ev been percieved as more content. Edit: By unlocking his upgrades i meant a new currency, not Coins and PP. As in, you get chips that upgrade him (or how about augments like a laser diode emitter (or some other cool scifi wacky mumbo jumbo name) that buffs the laser's reach, a fan that makes it deal more damage, fins to make the wing mode super slightly adjustable (like janet) etc. I know this would be hell to code, and if they really wanted easy things they could just make it all stat boosts.

I'm thinking a Mech UI screen with the brawler in full, and you tap on specific parts to add mods or augments or chips etc. (maybe use chips to buy augments). Or it could be kinda like BTD6's Monkey Knowledge system

2: Buzz Lightyear. I mean, hes kinda a boring brawler. If you wanna play laser form you can literally play any sniper and they are more interesting, for saber mode you have bibi, kenji, mortis etc and wing mode is just your generic assasin

3: Buzz's release. He was released for Brawlidays, making him feel like he was part of brawlidays than this event

4: Rewards. The rewards this time were EXTREMELY lackluster. The daily one just is like the daily freebie, i.e practically a rounding error. While other events also had daily rewards as lackluster, you actually got temporary progerssion for the event from them, which made every reward feel impactful. Secondly, the shop prices are ludicrous. A good player could get 17-20K Krusty Kash, compared to the 1.5-2K of pizza in this event. Now, the earning being reduced by 10x doesn't really matter IF the prices were also reduced, but they werent. The prices were reduced only to like 0.4-0.6% of their original price than 0.1%. A good example is Hypercharge drops. They costed around 4-5K in Krusty Kash, but are like 750-800 in Pizza Slices, when their accurate price should be 400-500. Like getting a HC just from Gems (straight up buying it, not the offers of 79 gems) is around 400 gems for one HC, and 1 gem = 2 pizza slices??? Like its cheaper to just buy the HC from gems lol.

I think the biggest issue was that the income for temp currency (compared to crusty cash) was divided by 10, while the prices were only divided by around 5. Also, most of the progression offers had this random ass pins, sprays and profile icons, with some pocket change of currency (like 20 bling or 200 coins, like who tf cares???), and those things massively increased the price

In the Spogebob event, you could get 3-4 Legendary/HC drops, you could get 1-2 brawlers, you could get other shit, while also getting some skins you love. In this one, you have to grind like 15-18 days to get ONE FREAKING HC drop

5:00 one idea I had for levelling temporary brawlers up was make it trophy based, aka, every 40-50 trophies giving the brawler an extra level, capping at the standard level 11 at around 400 trophies, not only fixing the levelling solution, but also letting newer players who are not playing the max level brawler have a fighting chance

Finished watching your video. Great points, but I didn’t get what you meant by “Sonic inflation”. Did Sonic have a failed game where the economy got ruined? Should we expect them to add the same Sonic inflation to Brawl Stars when they collaborate with Sonic? Maybe I should just look this up like you said.

Holy hell, the brawl hockey contest is so dumb. Every game is just Mortis and sandy, you literally cant win, they shoot next to you and the ball just flies in. “Free rank 50” ahh gamemode.

As a recent new player, Buzz is a catch 22 situation for Supercel. Buzz is op and the promotion has brought lots of new attention to the game. The counter is that Buzz is too op at some times. It makes players like me who wants to level up my brawlers and progress hate playing sometimes. I have tried to not play buzz as I see it as sort of cheating, but if someone wants to use the cool, new, free, op brawler, who am I to judge them?

In the end, Supercel got paid bank for this promotion and has used it to support the community. It is shocking how many updates and new content they have added to the game. It shows that they truly love and support their product and community. If I have to deal with an OP brawler for a month for the developers to be given what they deserve, I will suffer weeks for the game's lifetime prosperity.

One thing I see people forget to mention is how this is the first collab event where you couldn’t get the collab rewards. In spongebob, godzilla, demons vs angels, and even classic brawl the skins where part of the event ehich made grinding better. Now the PIZZA PLANET shop is filled with lunar new year skins and all the toy story ones aren’t even possible to get f2p except the surge one

To be honest buzz lightyear was the most annoying thing about this update, with how broken he was, just feel like supercell were tryna get new player to play with how no skill this shitter was. Glad to see that people know that supercell messed up big time with the update. The pizza planet shi too was a real burnout as the skins werent worth it as a mid player.
