This $15 Fake GameBoy is ROUGH...

Another fake handheld from Aliexpress... and I gotta say, this one looks VERY similar to a GBA console. It's obvious what they were going for. Let me know what you think!

Would you rather spend $15 on this, or $70 on a decent GameBoy advance?

I have this. The problem is the microSD card they included is junk and causes the system to crash. I use a Sandisk 32GB microSD card, loaded it with the full USA GBA romset and it works fine. Not all games will work though. Games that are 32MB will not boot. For regular in-game saving, you need to wait 1 minute after saving before powering off the system for it to save. You can also use save states, which you don't need to wait before powering off. For the price, it's better than other cheap handhelds like the PXP3.

It's actually a good cheap alternative for those that want to casually play on a GBA but don't have the money to buy an original GBA + IPS screen + Everdrive cartridge. Like @SaturnHST said, replacing the microSD card with a branded one solves the freezing problem, and you can have a knockoff GBA with a backlit screen and the entire game library for the low cost of $15 + micro SD.

Get the Powkiddy version if you want one with a better game library...it costs a bit more, sure. THAT brand has been getting better at retro handhelds so they can be a budget competitor to Anbernic's premium lineup.

A lot of these knock offs are supposedly for poor people who have kids who can't afford or not able to reach or doesnt have market of genuine consoles which are also costly... Yet it's kind of scary to many of us game enthusiasts.

I wouldn't buy that for $15.00. The built-in games are crap and the SD Card games don't appear to function properly. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for...

The Chinese are master copiers, I remember seeing a fake watch factory in Hong Kong in the 80's and they had teams of folks just measuring with engineering tools down to the last thou producing tech drawings that would be used by the machinists to produce fairly robust copies of exotic branded watches... where it all fell down was their machining tools and machinists were not very good hence why they looked okay first glance but were under the skin quite bad. Now today we have CAD, laser measuring tools, CNC machining and programmable injection moulding machines hence why externally they can look almost identical to the real deal. You should look into the Noob watch factory, the grandchild of the factory I visited years back... today they produce perfect 1:1 clones of Rolex, Omega, P-P etc that are so good it is making it nearly impossible to determine the fake from the real and their parts are interchangeable with the real ones causing much upset in the luxury commodity world.

To be honest I have great memories of my GBA purple from bak in the day for 15 bucks not bad but for the bricking it is 15 bucks LOL
